    Default Gas station to home

Juerg Judin, an art dealer and collector, spent three years renovating this former midcentury gas station in the Schöneberg district in Berlin.

Mr. Judin bought the station -- unoccupied since 1986 -- for 500,000 euros ($740,000) in 2005. Over the next three years, he restored the existing building, erected a new wing and created an idyllic outdoor garden.

    Interesting idea, certainly.

But honestly, I wouldn't be too keen to live on top of a gas station. The underground tanks that house the gas are notorious for leaking and seeping gas up through the ground years after. Removing them doesn't always cure the problem, either. I wouldn't want to marinate myself in that, or try to landscape and keep anything alive.

I like the library, but a chair would have been a nice thought. The rest of it, I hate.

I like the canopy in the garden and the 1930s wrap around window in the dining area. Nothing spesh about the rest and that fuck off industrial kitchen is OTT.

I kind of like it. But i love the idea of repurposing just about anything.

Happy trails to you...until we meet again.
