    Default Living on a houseboat

Despite wanting to escape the rat race after 10 years working for an ad agency, Josie Curran couldn’t quite face moving to the sticks. Instead, the author and her boyfriend, Barney, found this houseboat, on the river Thames in Hampton Court, a happy compromise as it is only 25 minutes by train to Waterloo. Now seven months pregnant, Curran says: "It?s like being on holiday every day. We have an early-morning swim, and we eat the eggs that the ducks lay in our tomato patch - as long as our German pointer, Otter, doesn?t get to them first. And our friends use us as a weekend retreat if they can?t face the drive to Cornwall." The house is not what you might expect from a boat - it can’t be motored around, but it has a hull, and is moored off an island in a community of about 40 similar homes. "People ask if it’s damp, but it isn’t. It’s got full plumbing and is wired up just like a regular house. You can’t even feel it moving, unless you look at the horizon and see it bobbing slightly."

Thats a lot nicer than I thought it would be. I knew a guy once years ago that lived on a houseboat. Was not a nice boat at all. And he was smelly

I'm sure Barney loves to live in a houseboat where everywhere you look there's pink. I can see who wears the daddy pants in the relationship.

I love it! Some men just don't care if things are pink or not. My hubby wouldn't bat an eye if I had the place painted pale pink-he just doesn't notice or care!

I like color, but laying a bunch of blankets on the floor does not equal a rug. So much of the decor in there is so very, very fug.

Looks great, but I'm wondering what it looks like at night.

Well I wouldn't want my boyfriend having beer posters and a dart board in the living room or a tacky moosehead over the fireplace so out of the same consideration, I wouldn't decorate my house like a college girl's dorm.

Another person who arranges books by color. My inner librarian chafes at the sight.

i also get annoyed by people who arrange cd's or books by colour. it makes no sense.

i like the idea of a houseboat. and the space itself is nice. but it's so fucking girlie and pink i already hate this bitch just from looking at her house.

    I think it's absolutely lovely.
Hello mother fucker! when you ask a question read also the answer instead of asking another question on an answer who already contain the answer of your next question!
