The bedroom and the patio are awesome, as are the views. Is the kitchen that little strip of appliances?

I hate cedar ceilings. Reminds me of my parents' 1970s horror that they were too mean and stupid to update.

The wood is a bit much, but the view from the bedroom is fantastic! wow!

Hamilton is one of the Whitsunday Islands off the coast of Queensland. It's one of Australia's best kept secrets so shhhhhh.

i like the wood but for it to work the rest of the furniture has to be less beige. as it is, it's a sea of beige. upholster the sofas in another colour (preferably a cooler one), get a different coffee table, etc.
i also hate the bottom kitchen cabinets, not a fan of the dining room set and i don't like the colour on the walls - it's too warm and basically just looks like a dirty white. i prefer cooler tones.

but the house itself is nice, it has a lot of potential.

it's warm & homey, but a bit too generic for me. i find it to be too full of earth tones...needs some color, imo.

yeah, all their decoration sucks - from the cushions to the flowers and boats to the hurricane lamps on the dining room table.

There are lots of wooden interior walls where I live, and I find most people are challenged by what to do with them. I had a house like that for two years. I had to use gray rather than any kind of brown or beige as the neutral, and then add punches of color. So I agree, something cool is needed to balance the warm wood.

And as long as there's adequate light, I think it looks better to paint any non-wood-paneled walls something other than plain white. I used muted (grayed-down) colors that were almost as dark as the wood itself, and the wood stood out less.
