Default Prince Edward Islandís Mount Vernon

Built by a history buff 22 years ago, this five-bedroom six-bath house, inspired by Mount Vernon, George Washington's historic estate, is on the market on Prince Edward Island for 820,000 Canadian dollars (about $757,000).

i love the location but if i want an old house, i'll buy an old house. not some dodgy modern reproduction.

Gorgeous land. Gagging on the house. It seems so artificial.

Why gyp the kitchen? Eveyone ends up in the kitchen all the time. Doesn't every town have a Mt. Vernon replica? I can think of 4-5 where I grew up.

I know people who've built replica houses because they love the look of an older house, but not the tremendous upkeep. It can take a lot to get these house back in good shape and/or to keep them that way, so I can understand that.

I like the idea of this one and some of the execution, but some of the furnishings are ick - like those floral wingchairs in the living room are vomitous.

Mt. Vernon was one of my favorite spots to visit growing up! I do love the land this is on though...

I'm another who is shocked at the size of the kitchen. Any home I have, HAS to have a large kitchen. Not so keen on the interior either.

good Lord, throw that flowered chair, plaid draperies, and red flower on the wall out the window among other things.

i half approve of the kitchen, other than the narrow width. mine is also done in white with windows.
