    Default Royal living for sale

Ackergill Tower, a historic estate dating to 1476, is on Sinclair's Bay in the northeast corner of the Scottish Highlands.

The property has an approximately 1,100-square-foot tree house (with a deck, dining room and kitchen).

love the house/castle itself and the location but i'd have to toss out all the furniture, it's vile. the tree house also seems pretty useless.

This wins for the most furniture crammed in a huge livingroom! Still,I sort of like it.

Don't tell me the royals are broke, too!

The beach is amazing, so is the castle and my grandma would have liked the interior.

Mmmm - they've probablynot thought of that!

I like the architecture of it, but the location is.. erm.... too far north for me.

Not sure why the NYT called it "royal" living - unless its just about the castle? Its been a hotel for a long time, not a home.

Prestigious Ackergill Tower goes on sale
    Published: 08 August, 2008
ACKERGILL Tower is to be sold by owners John and Arlette Banister, who have run the prestigious business for the past 20 years.

The couple feel the time is right to bow out but are seeking a buyer who will carry on developing the business as one of the world's most sought-after venues.
The Banisters bought the building in 1986 when it was in a very poor state of repair and transformed it into a successful five-star venue for meetings, product launches, corporate entertainment and a luxury retreat for celebrities such as Sir Richard Branson, Billy Connolly and Philip Schofield.

I'd buy it, and turn it into a private residence. I love the stained glass window in the dining room.

I'm with our Northern English lass here - the location is far too north for comfortable living. I couldn't handle the climate for long. And the interior is too stuffy. I suppose it's fine even expected for hotel decor but not livable to me on a daily basis.

^^ LOL! I only live on the boarder & it MUCH too dark here!

I only liked one room & I think that was more the architecture than the decor - but I'm glad its not wallpapered on all walls...
