Default Casa las Ranas is a candy-colored wonderland

If you see color as a way to lift the spirits, get happy: Los Angeles photographer Ann Summa visited Casa Las Ranas, the home of artist Anado McLauchlin and art historian Richard Schultz, who have created a house of color outside of the artist colony of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. McLauchlin, also known as James Rayburn McLauchlin III, was largely influenced by Native American art, but after he moved to Mexico, his once-earthy color palette changed to lime greens, hot pinks, sky blues and deep purples. Nearly every wall of the interior and exterior is painted or covered with a bright jumble of mosaics. Step inside. ...

Geezus...I am having a seizure just looking at this. It's like a rainbow threw up three tons of skittles in this place.

i'm sure they've got great acid too but i'd go outside for that - that house might give me a bad trip.

I love the idea of it.. it's whimsical and eccentric and the folks look like some serious tokers. The individual decorative elements are so cool but altogether I think they'd drive me crazy. Would be fun to spend a night there or something but living their permanently would be too much.

Am all for color but can't get down with this at all.

    It seems crazy-making.
