    Default Bought my first home

My significant other and I just bought of our first (and hopefully last!) home. It was a foreclosure (built in 2005), and although it's too big for the two of us, it was an amazing deal. We still can't believe it. The home inspection was Tuesday, and everything was perfect basically. There was one popped nail in the laundry room and we need to replace the $5 pans that collect rainwater runoff from the gutter. That's it! If no last minute issues come up, we close July 30th.

That is so great! Best to go larger-you'll be surprised how fast that space can shrink! Much happiness in your new home!

Congrats!! My husband and I just bought our first home. Like you, it was larger than what we needed but it was an amazing deal.
We moved into our home 4 months ago. We did some minor work to it, and now just love it. It feels fantastic not to have to pay rent anymore.

Thanks for the reassurance and well wishes, guys. I was really concerned about it being too big. It's 4400 sq ft total (3400 on the top two floors and 1000 sq ft for the finished walkout basement). We definitely wanted something smaller, but it made no sense to buy something at the same price that was smaller and needed work. I'm glad to hear you all have grown into your homes.

We are so excited about not paying rent again. We've been wasting 1600 a month on a 1 bedroom apt for the last year and a half. The mortgage on our house will only be 400 more.

Don't worry, it won't be "too big" for long. It's amazing how quickly you can find stuff to fill the empty spaces.
