    Default Nature nurtured

On the shores of New Zealandís Lake Wakatipu, architects Bronwen Kerr and Pete Ritchie designed a relaxed family home that reclines into its spectacular landscape.

    Blech.

Any house that needs a ladder to get to another room that isn't an attic is instant fail.

I think it is great! And those views! The ladder is going up to a yoga studio. Good idea.

i don't mind a ladder. when i was living in vienna i shared a flat and my room was huge and really tall (i think the ceilings were about 4 metres) and half my room had a mezzanine and to access it you went up an inclined ladder and i didn't mind at all, even went up and down several times whilst drunk and/or high and never incurred any injuries.

To be able to grow up looking at scenery like that everyday is such a gift.

I like the way the house is sited, and the location is amazing. The house's exterior and interior design do nothing for me.

As for the ladder to the yoga studio, hate it. I wouldn't want a ladder like that over the house's hardest surfaces. Mr. Shinola and I have rejected houses with lofts that have ladders like this. We don't want to be liable when someone's kid breaks an arm or worse. And there are too many buyers who wouldn't want that feature, so resale can be a problem.
