Default On a rock in a hard place

Looking like a jewel box at dusk, Scott Stafne’s Cantilever House rests easy in the middle of the Washington woods. With miles of hiking trails, lakes, and waterfalls to explore, Stafne’s property provides almost unlimited opportunity for outdoor adventures. The strong and sturdy house acts as a warm respite from the elements when the weather won’t cooperate, which is often—horizontal rain and whipping winds can be the norm.

Architect Peter Anderson explains that “the floating nature of the design would not have been possible with conventional onsite framing techniques, nor any of the currently marketed modular home designs.” Using a heavy structural steel frame, engineered wood spline beam system, and structural insulated panels, the architects created a truly unique hybrid structural system and, in the end, a home.

It's gorgeous at night, but it seems like all really modern, boxy homes also sport sparse, colorless, boring interiors.

I'd be petrified to live there. It looks like the stairs go right over the cliff.

Glorified two story mobile home-esque monstrosity that detracts immensely from the beauty of it's natural surroundings. Hopefully a good strong rain- heavy wind will push this thing over the cliff, leaving it as a heap of junk, not much different than it looks now.

I agree. I do like the table, though.

yeah..it would be good as an outdoor patio table in the right area. (Had to go back and look)

I bet Scott(who just had to be in a picture sipping a beverage) is a real asshole who I would like to smack as well. Or push over the rail. Rich fucking despoiler of the woods! Don't know why I am so hateful today?
