Default Casa Capricho: A 1740 Spanish-style home in San Miguel de Allende

About four years ago, George Martin and Jim Watterson sold their 5,000-square-foot Spanish Colonial Revival home in Pasadena and downsized to a more modest midcentury home nearby. But on a trip to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, they stumbled across another piece of Spanish architecture for sale: Casa Capricho. The house, built in 1740, has since been carefully updated while maintaining the kind of indoor-outdoor living that so many Southern Californians seek. Inside, Martin and Watterson trucked down part of Watterson’s collection of religious art — amassed over 50 years.

    love this.
and i like the fountain in the courtyard/atrium. the original walls are lovely, too.
i dislike most of the furnishings except the ceiling lamp in the bedroom.

*sigh* I can only dream. I'm not fond of the inner decor but I absolutely love everything about the outside, especially the atrium.

now this is beautiful spanish colonial, not that neo-zorro crap.

i'd change some of the furniture, well most of it. i don't like the living room or the patio furniture. i like the bedroom. and i like the room where the owners are photographed and the outdoor daybed with the striped cushions.

Love it, especially the front door. Bedroom is a bit grim.

You can tell that the builders were influenced by the North-African architecture, It looks like a Riad in Marrakech. I'll only really object to the green sofa

I like the house, hate all the furniture. Except maybe that canopy bed. The court yard is the best part.

I love this house. Its a bit too grandiose for my taste, but I could probably force myself to live there.
