In the Cyclades the Vernacular Architecture of Mykonos Inspires a Clean-Lined Island Retreat

A compound on Mykonos by Javier Barba “is a modern interpretation of Cycladic vernacular architecture,” says the architect. He incorporated traditional elements of the island’s building idiom—including whitewashed, stuccoed walls and a flat roof—into the design.

Yeah, I could live there, although it's a bit too close to the sea for my taste.

It's dreamy. Wonderful setting and views. I like the decor too, especially the quirkier pieces. I would prefer for the exterior to be either all stone or all white but that is a minor quibble.

Lol,McJag,i dont have a house in Mykonos, but the view from my place is pretty too.
My niece,s godmother has a place like this, all verandah,s placed around the house to shelter people from the winds .
And the place is not as close to the sea as it looks, maybe you need a car ride to the seaside.
Most of the houses are.The blue of their sea is incredible,tho..

i don't like the kitchen (especially those butt ugly bar stools, but even those gold-rimmed plates are horrid), i HATE the dining room table and chairs, and i also really dislike the furniture in the living room in the 3rd picture.

everything else i like. the outside of the house is pretty nice, that outdoor living room/verandah is gorgeous.

not crazy about the sunbeds and the bed might be too ornate and dark but those are minor details.

It's the Mediterranean Sea, it doesn't move, no hurricanes either.
I think the house is too big. Who wants to hang around in a kitchen that's that size?

    love the house.
i'd throw everything out of the living room except the coffee table (and the doors).
am in love with the stone wall in the dining room. also like the dining chairs but i'd sell them. they look out of place there.
    the kitchen is modern boring.
and i think i'd like the bedroom if it was more minimalist. keep the bed but get rid of the lamps, benches, chairs, carpets, ...

Not crazy about some of the furniture either, but that view and the pool are to die for!
