^^ Yeah but you don't feel a thing. When I had my c-section the only thing I felt was when they pushed down on my stomach to pull the baby out. And it was pressure that I felt more than anything else. They make sure you don't feel a thing.

I know, but knowing me, I'd have this unnatural compulsion to pull back the curtain and see myself.. and end up traumatizing myself. LOL.

Yup, there's a reason why they pay the highest medical insurance.

I woke up once immediately after a laproscopy - right when they were lifting me from the surgical table onto a gurney. I looked to my right and saw the surgical table all bloodied, and then was concious as they extubated me. Didn't hurt, and my wooziness kinda blunted the whole yuckiness of it...but I do remember it vividly.

I woke up in the middle of a procedure where they had stuck a camera down my throat and into my stomach - can't remember the name of the procedure. I felt everything, and my entire body went into a clench to try to expel the camera. When I was in recovery after and had to try to sit up, get up, and walk, I could barely move, because I must have pulled every muscle in my body. I could barely breathe because my chest muscles were so sore.

Oh stop it, I'm getting freaked out! I just had surgery about a month and a half ago, and I have to have another minor surgery this Friday. I have heard of this before. Now the thought of this happenning pops into my head every time I have surgery.

Oh that frightens the hell out of me. That, and not waking up from it. Those are the risks I suppose. Everything in life comes with risks. Humans aren't perfect.
I just hate the word 'surgery' itself. Makes me shudder.

When I went to the oral surgeon to get my wisdom teeth removed, they gave me anaethesia to make me fall asleep. Well, it didn't work!! I remember being concious, albeit very woozy. It all felt so strange. Like, I could feel everything that they were doing in my mouth, but thankfully didn't feel any pain.
I remember at one point I shut my eyes, and I heard one of the assistants say, "Oh good, she's asleep." And right when she said that, my eyes popped back open. All she said was "Oh," but I'm sure she was thinking "Shit."
StayYoung, not waking up at all is a fear of mine too! The thought briefly passed through my mind as the doctor was giving me the anaesthesia. I'll never understand celebrities or people who willingly go through pain and anaesthetics just to get bigger boobs or the perfect nose, 'cause there's always that risk.
ETA: Paper Doll, are you going to an oral surgeon? Cause that's what everyone recommended to me, and there really is very little pain afterwards. Just take the meds they give you, and be aware that your face will resemble that of a chipmunk for the first couple of days after.

It's really not as bad as it sounds. And once its done, it's done. You'll never have to think about getting your wisdom teeth removed again.

I kept waking up during my wisdom teeth removal. I fully remember it and I kept telling the oral surgeon that I could feel what he was doing. So he would give me another novacaine needle. Finally, he said there were 7 needles in my mouth and I couldn't possibly feel anything. He asked me if I felt pain or just them moving around in my mouth. I nodded that it was just them moving around in my mouth. He put a cloth over my eyes and told me to go back to sleep I really didn't feel a thing at all....

It shouldn't have been a problem, this procedure is often done without anesthesia

I had the same thing done, but with anesthesia. For the first ten minutes, all I got was sleepy but I refused to close my eyes. I could still feel the IVs so I figured I could still feel pain. It turns out that they hadn't given me enough anesthetic or something because one of the doctors had made a mistake on my chart and confused me with someone else.

Ick! I'm glad they at least gave me the anaesthesia, even if I did wake up! My gag reflex would be too strong to let that camera go down.
I feel very lucky now
