I think you have to seek special permission for that.

Oh yes because I completely forgot that all young people think exactly the same don't they
You know, for someone who has children herself you have little faith in young people’s intelligence and their ability to know what is right and wrong, good and bad.
As you know I am only 18 which I assume you would consider young as I am almost positive that you are once again directing your snide comments at me. But I must say I have never even tried drugs because I am more than aware of the dangers, the same with smoking. I drink alcohol but not excessively, I do know my limits. But I know older people, even in their 40's who go out and get off their head regularly. So I don't think this subject is something that you can just make a blanket statement about as everyone (even young people) is different and , shock horror!! have minds of their own.

Sigh - once again a perfectly reasonable thread discussing an important and interesting topic is ambused by someone who wants to make it personal. I thought all those morons had been banned?

Re: Should doctors tell obese kids they're obese?
I’m sorry, I had to chuckle to myself then. I came in this thread over half an hour ago and saw you in here. When you vanished without replying I was curious so clicked on your profile. Obviously you were struggling to think of something to say back to me because you were private messaging *sigh*
I can’t believe the all knowing A*O was lost for words!
Anyway, YOU were the one that made it personal, I was merely stating that not all children think the same.

The above comment from you was a blatant dig at me, you do it all the time, those 'old hag' comments must have really gotten to you because you keep bringing them up! The 'morons' are the people that can't let things go. Seeing as though I'm not the one going round making constant childish digs I'd say that wasn't me.

Tiara - If you enjoy checking up on my activities here so much (WTF?) you will see that you are now on my Ignore list which I reserve for especially deserving cases only. Not even Frank made the cut. Here's how it works - I can't see, and don't want to see any more of your posts on this thread or anywhere else (and PMs/emails will also be ignored) so you'll have to find someone else to pick a fight with OK? Buh-bye.

Group hug!!!
Yes, doctors should say something, but it needs to be done in a way that is both forceful and diplomatic. Not like this:
Court Says Stop Case Against Rude Doctor
By DAVID TIRRELL-WYSOCKI
The Associated Press
CONCORD, N.H. - A judge has ordered the state Board of Medicine to stop disciplinary proceedings against a doctor accused of telling a patient she was so obese she might only be attractive to black men and advising another to shoot herself following brain surgery.
Judge Edward Fitzgerald made clear in a ruling released Thursday that he did not condone remarks attributed to Dr. Terry Bennett and found them unnecessary, but ruled Bennett had a right to speak bluntly.
"It is nonetheless important ... to ensure that physicians and patients are free to discuss matters relating to health without fear of government reprisal, even if such discussions may sometimes be harsh, rude or offensive to the listener," he concluded in the ruling Wednesday.
The complaints against Bennett included charges that he told a white patient that she was so obese she might only be attractive to black men.
" Let's face it, if your husband were to die tomorrow, who would want you?" the board has said Bennett told the overweight patient in June 2004. " Well, men might want you, but not the types you want to want you. Might even be a black guy," it quoted him as saying, based on the woman's complaint.
Bennett, 68, has denied making the comment, but has said he's seen polls supporting that position.
"I f you look at the polling, nobody likes fat women," he said last year. " Is it right? No. Is it sensible? No. Is it true? Yeah ... Black guys are the only group that don't mind that. Is that racist to say that?"
Rest of article at: http://www.phillyburbs.com/pb-dyn/ne...06-680422.html
I can't believe the guy is getting away with it.

Re: Should doctors tell obese kids they're obese?
Ok, now THAT's a case for a doctor going absolutely nutso. Yes, tell them that they are obsese, but why be so unoprofessional and blatantly abusive about it? You are a doctor, you are supposed to give HOPE if nothing else. Sick Fuck.

Re: Should doctors tell obese kids they're obese?
That doctor was indeed out of line but parents need to be told to stop stuffing their precious little angels with sugar and spice and everything nice. The child will not suffer if they can't eat at McDonald's every week or if they have to drink water instead of soda. The big question I want to ask is do parents even serve their children vegetables any longer? And I am not talking about the ones that come with their microwavable tv dinners either.
