True enough, but so many young people think they are invincible and that nothing truly bad can ever happen to them. The anti-smoking campaigns aimed at teenage girls have been a miserable failure, at least here in Canada. The images were pretty graphic, but to no avail.

I actually appreciate threads like this..in the same way I appreciate Jerry Springer guests..makes my(at this time) miserable life seem not quite so horrible by comparison. (it CAN always be worse!). I am going to my parents in a while to have dinner and I am thankful that they are still around to have dinner with. And that (but for the grace of God-or fate or whatever)-I have not fallen into the depths of addiction to these horrible drugs.*crosses self and shudders.*

Eeek! There's a woman who goes to my gym who I vaguely know from the school where both our kids' attend. I saw her today working out and I swear she's on the meth. She's lost so much weight she looks scrawny and her face looks about 10 years older. Stupid bitch.

She may be stupid but addicts aren't necessarily stupid. It is a disease.

Clarification: Until a few months ago she was absolutely clean and living a vegan, teetotal, macrobiotic, marathon a week exercise program type lifestyle. Something has happened to make her use meth and that's very sad but I can't believe it's the only choice she had. I am NOT saying addicts are stupid (and you know that m'kay? )

I blame (at least partially) this "everybody who is over a size 0-2 is disgustingly FAT!" culture/mentality for the steady increase of girls who smoke, snort and pop every kind of stimulant from cigarettes to meth!

The decision to use meth for the first time is a stupid decision. STUPID. Addiction is something else altogether, but people cannot blame ignorance in this day & age when they choose to start.

Especially with something so addictive..I have heard of people getting addicted to this the very first time they tried it. They were immediately hooked and had to have it from that first time on. Scary.
