Hormonal variation are a pretty common cause so contraception pills can be the culprit too - Here in Europe we have an over the counter painkiller that stops my migraines after 20 min.- It's called Perdolan- It's a life saver for me as nothing else works and I couldn't get through a migraine without it, it's so painfull I think I'd try to off myself

I wind up in the ER when I can't get the puking to turn off, but when I feel them coming on, my doc toldme to take 40 mg of prednisone, 100 mg of Ansaid, and 10mg of Maxalt or sometimes Zofran. The problem is that if I wake up with a migraine or wake up puking, I am going to the ER. I have to get to the migraine before it gets to me.

I have heard about the Botox shots. I'm thinking between the migraines and the TMJ, it could hold a lot of promise for me.

Wow. I'm so glad you're okay!

Did this change your ability for certain expressions? I know this sounds really dumb from someone who wants to end migraines ffs, but I'd rather approach this knowing stuff upfront. Also, how was the pain? I get regular intramuscular shots every week, but a needle going into my scalp is already inducing a big case of big baby-itis.

The only place that felt weird afterwards was the forehead. It felt a little numb and you won't be able to "look really surprised" for a while. There was no pain (for me) from the injections. I used to be so freaked out by needles, and I was all sweaty and feeling nauseous about it. But the needles were very small and some of them I didn't even feel going in.

How close were the neck injections to the spine?

For me, they were at the base of the head where the head and neck meet. On either side of the spine.

Exactly. Plus the combo for migraines I mentioned above is already having negative effects.
The way I understand it is that the botox slightly paralyzes the muscles to keep the muscles from clenching up and tensing, which can cause headaches and migraines. By the time the botox wears off, your muscles are no longer in the routine of tensing.

i get migraines occasionally and i'm pretty sure they're stress-related. i can go for months without one but if i'm working a lot or just generally have a lot on my mind i'll get them more often. sometimes it's just a nagging headache, usually behind the eyes and the sides of my head, but every once in a while i get an awful one that lasts for a day or two and i get nausea and i see white spots and i want to strangle anyone that talks to me. i can usually feel them coming on and if i don't take something before a certain point, it's too late and no amount of pills will make the headache go away and i'm stuck with it for a day or two.
