Honey, I'm sorry you are/were going through a tough time, I understand how it feels sometimes. I always felt better when I could let it out, pour out my thoughts through writing, or having a good cry. Whatever you need, if we can help we're here for you.

Alice, that's great that you had such a good catharctic experience. I used to go to therapy during work hours and the same thing would happen. I'd cry and get horribly red bloodshot eyes and puffy face that would last for hours afterward, so I had to change to after work appointments. Hope your next appt. is even more productive, less crying!

GenX I scarily identified completely with Avoidant Personality Disorder. Fortunately none of my depression symptoms have been acute for several years and I have been doing pretty well in overcoming the feelings that use to debilitate me. But even now, even some things I've written on this board smack of the descriptions in your link (I'd rather be lonely than vulnerable, I can't deal with some things because of the barrage of emotions I fear, etc.) And it's not a good way to live. I'm not sure how to change it though I do want to.

Same here. Its this horrible pattern of- wake up feeling bad, and then trying to feel better all day. By nighttime I'm much better, and then I go sleep, wake up, and it all starts again...

SY&P, hugs to you. That is a horrible pattern to be trapped in, like a vicious circle of hopelessness. Sometimes something as simple as bright sunlight helps make a difference in moods. I hope you feel better and keep battling this.

Crying can be such a relief, though, learning to let down your guard is healthy. My Aunt can cry when she feels like it at a drop of hat. It's not easy especially if you have burden on your shoulders.

OMG, that's exactly what I've been doing, SYP.
It must be some kind of coping mechanism. I hate the mornings, I hate the rush, ect.

WTF is it about mornings? I hide under the covers in the morning, I literally can't face them at the moment.

It's night times that are usually worte for me, the feeling of oh dear, will I actually sleep tonight? Also knowing that when I may possibly need a friend, it's too late to call just to hear that familiar voice that comforts me when I am down and reassures me that I'll be out of this headspace soon.
