Default Diets

I don't know if anyone is interested or looking but here are a few diet I've used in the past. Try and keep your calories a minimum of 10-12 times your body weight - you can always adjust them later but if you start really low and your weight loss stalls where do you go from there?

SAMPLE 1

Meal 1
5 Egg Whites, 1 Whole Egg
1/4-1/2 cup Cream of Wheat or Oatmeal (made w/water, cinnamon, splenda)

Meal 2
Protein Shake w/ water or skim milk (check your calories)

Meal 3
4-6oz chicken, turkey or fish
3oz potato/yam (small to medium)
Fat Source (almonds 10-15)

Meal 4
4oz chicken, turkey or fish
Green Veggie (unlimited)

Meal 5
Protein Shake (after workout) w/ water or skim milk (check your calories)

Meal 6
4oz chicken, turkey or fish

Green Veggie (unlimited)
Fat Source - 1tbsp Olive Oil

SAMPLE 2

Meal 1
5 Egg Whites, 1 Whole Egg – optional frozen spinach cooked
1/2 Cup Oatmeal or Cream of Wheat

Meal 2
Cottage Cheese – not fat free get the regular one

Unlimited Green veggies or 6 medium strawberries or 15-20 blueberries (you will have to see how your body responses to diets w/ fruit)

Meal 3
4oz chicken, turkey or fish
Unlimited Green Veggies
Fat Source – 1tbsp Olive Oil or 10-15 Almonds
If you are fatigued add a small potato or yam or 1/3 cup rice brown or white

Meal 4
Protein Shake (after workout) w/ water or skim milk (check your calories)

Meal 5
4oz – chicken, turkey or fish
Unlimited Green Veggies
Fat Source - 1tbsp Olive Oil

Meal 6 (optional)
Protein Shake (after workout) 1/2 water 1/2 skim milk (check your calories)

SAMPLE 3

Meal 1
Protein shake w/ water and berries (6 med strawberries – 10-15 blueberries)

Meal2
10-15 Almonds

Meal 3

Baby spinach leaves (unlimited) with 4-6 sliced strawberries, 10-15 blueberries
4-6 oz – chicken, turkey or fish
small to med- yam, potato or 1/3 cup rice
1 tbsp Olive Oil & Balsamic Vinegar

Meal 4
Protein shake w/ water and berries (6 med strawberries – 10-15 blueberries)

Meal 5
6 oz chicken, turkey or fish
small yam, potato or 1/3 cup of rice
Unlimited green veggies

^ Very nice! It's well balanced in terms of protein and good carbs (veggies & fruits).

To be honest though, that's not a diet you can stick to for the long term, i.e 2 yrs + It's a good way to jumpstart weightloss, but you have to incorporate more foods to justify it as a lifestyle diet.

well, yah that's the point, they are weight loss/cutting diets and with a weekly cheat day you can eat fairly clean for long periods of time (12-16 weeks at a time)

if you dieted strict and clean for two years your metabolism would shut down so I'm not sure why anyone would diet like that for that long.

True... but your diet is good for anyone wanting to drop a quick 2-15 lbs. I just never understood what bodybuilders did once they quit their psycho diet. Would you be content having more body fat? When would enough be enough. What do you think? Meaning you couldn't possibly eat that clean for that long. What do you think? I think Suede, you and I think alike on this level. Do you live in South Florida? I do. If so IM

It is extreme and just before a show they manipulate their sodium and fats and jeeeeeeeeeeez the rebound after a show is just insane - 10-14 lb gain just in water is a mind fuck.

Anywho - I've done all three and you can/should modify them they are just a guideline to follow. I find that I add a lot more fruit and I won't say no to a decadent meal out or a dessert if that's what I want and I just need a break. Your body's smarter than you and will scream loudly when it needs change we just choose not to listen a lot of the time.

And people are different how they respond to diets - I like a cheat meal or day for my sanity. I don't miss most breads like in sandwiches b/c I have an allergy to wheat, yeast and flour (I'll still eat them on occasion but it's not worth it for me unless we're talking PIZZA!).

Mmmmmm pizza

Yes, I would rather have a higher body fat it's just easier to maintain and we are female after all. I'm not sure people have a great sense of body fat percents. There are some skinny woman out there that have starved themselves for so long they're bodyfat % is really high 30%-40%. I think 19-23% can be pretty sexy on a woman - curves in the right places. 15-19% - certainly athletic and defined and not manly. (those are my personal favs) Under 15 and closer to 11% you lose that female shape - if you're muscular you'd be great for a show but not realistic for everyday life unless there is a reason for you to maintain that low state.

Honest answer - I think if you can eat clean - perfect without counting the hours to a cheat meal for a long time (5-6 months) it's very much like an eating disorder - it is a control thing if you think about it and instead of not eating you're obssessed over everything that hits your mouth. (that said if I feel poorly about myself and porked out a bit I can be really strict but I usually snap LOL after about a month and order pizza or make cookies)

I'm in NY

I completely agree with you! Don't you wish you could eat this way the rest of your life? I would rather have less body fat % than weigh less. However, here in South Beach it's all about how you look compared to what your fitness level is. I think you can agree with me on this, I would rather see someone squat 35 pounds than someone squat 10 pounds and not even sweat. Makes me sick. If you are going to work out, sweat and don't act like the sun and moon sets over you.

Does anyone feel really groady after drinking protein shakes? I used to sip the s.o.'s protein shakes once in a while and they make me feel all snotty and stuffed up.

It depends on the type of protein really and if you use milk (and what kind of milk) - I only used egg white protein and with water. There's whey, soy and pea protein as well - pea isn't bad but I don't go near whey or soy.

Why do you stay away from Whey and Soy? I heard they are risky also, what are your reasons and where do you get egg white protein for shakes that sounds interesting. I have always been a skinny little thing and now at 28 I am over 130lbs, I have never been chubby until now and I am trying to lose by big ole tummy, so thanks for all of your ideas.

For me it's allergy related.

Whey is actually really a great source of protein - soy less so but it is hyped to be just as good. Soy contains plant estrogen and in small doses it's fine but considered everything you buy in bottle or box contains some form of soy you are be exposed to a lot of unneccessary estrogen.

There's also pea protein whihc is pretty good - some have soy some do not.

What I do like about egg white protein is that is dissolves very easily and I can be lazy and not want to blend it.

You could probably loose it just by cutting out any extra sugars, lowering your grains and upping your greens. Depends on what you are doing currently really and if you've never tried it Pilates is awesome for your core muscles.

why not just eat raw eggs? source of proteins, good cholestral and fats, as well as almost every single vitamin and mineral.

rice protein is good too, but hard to find.
