Do you go to the gym?
I have been seriously considering getting a membership to the YMCA. We have 3 different locations in our city that I could use to give me variety. They have daycare for the kids. They have all kinds of family activities, and the Y summer camp that my son goes to already would have a small discount if I were a member.
Soooo....if you go, how often? Or, do you regret getting a membership and simply never use it?
The only real form of excericise I get is walking/jogging. Of course right now (10 degrees outside with a solid layer of ice on everything) it's just not doable. I would still walk/jog when weather allows it, but going someplace to get a really good workout for a half hour a couple times a week is starting to REALLY appeal to me.

Re: Do you go to the gym?
Hey Girl,
I check your log from time to time and haev not heard from you. I hope all is well! Anyway yes I go to a gym I got a membership, I go about four times a week. I got a trainer which really helped me get into it, he showed me what I should be doing and how I should be doing it. It helped me stay really motivated. The YMCA'a are usually very afforadable also so it is worth a try. The gym is therapy to me, I have never been so energetic and happy. It is worth it, though it is very difficult to go all the time if you really push yourself you become addicted to it.

Re: Do you go to the gym?
There's a Y by me that fairly popular since it has two pools and a computer area for internet but we have a home gym so the commute is most excellent.

Re: Do you go to the gym?
Aw, Rambie! Someone cares about me!!! I haven't been on my log, but I was gonna make another entry soon. Been so busy around here, I haven't been on as much as usual (but still way more than I should).
I really wish I could find someone to join with me. My sister in law mentioned it at one point, I may bug her some more. It'd be so much more fun and motivating if I had a partner. I just don't want to waste my money.

Re: Do you go to the gym?
I got a tryout membership at the Y once, it was $30 and good for one month. I only went once...
I'm thinking of joining a gym again though, for real this time. I want to find a place that also has a swimming pool, sauna and a steam room. I actually like swimming better than working out.

Re: Do you go to the gym?
The gym is not for everyone thats for sure. Over the past seven years I have wasted so much money on gyms, but I have reached a time in my life that I really truly want to get in shape so I have been going regularly. I would never go to an expensive gym never!

Re: Do you go to the gym?
I don't. I went to the gym at the University when I was a student because it was almost free. What bugs me is you have to buy a membership for at least 6 months and it's soooooo expensive, I'd prefer to pay every (rare) time I go.
Anyway I go to the swimming pool 4-7 times a week, I have a stepper at home and do exercises with a Thera-Band, it's more than enough for my lazy ass

Re: Do you go to the gym?
yep, i go to the gym...5 days a week usually...it's more of a get away for me, i get up at 5:30ish to go before my daughter wakes up...it's a great start to the day and i've lost 40 lbs in the meantime!!!! ofcoarse i don't go just to walk at 3.0 on the treadmill, i go to get inshape and it works...when you start seeing results, you get really motivated...and that leads to going to the gym often...

Re: Do you go to the gym?
I joined a gym a few years back and went about 8 times before I got bored and gave up.
Then this year I joined another one as I had quite a bit of weight to lose and I must like it as I will be renewing my membership in January. I go through phases of not going for a couple of weeks but then I remember how much I love it and my enthusiasm is renewed. I love running on the treadmill most of all. It helped me to shed 41lb along with Weight Watchers and I hope to be able to maintain this weight forever.

Re: Do you go to the gym?
I use to go 5 times a week but I was told that it was too much so I now go 3 times a week, for over an hour. I feel like I am not seeing any results.

Re: Do you go to the gym?
For those who aren't seeing results, what results are you looking for? I want to join for my sense of well-being, honestly. After a good workout, I feel so good, so full of energy, so refreshed. Even if I didn't lose a pound or gain any muscle I'd go just for that great feeling. But, I have a feeling I would lose at least a little weight and tone up a bit....at least I HOPE!!!
