Be Honest - How Much Do You Drink?

My doc friend says when she asks patients this question she doubles the answer they give.

If we assume an alcohol 'Unit' is one glass of wine, one shot of spirits, one beer - how much do you drink per day or per week? Health organisations say the MAX ideal is, approx, 14 units per week for women and 21 units per week for men (some nonsense about body fat/muscle ratio).

Based on the above benchmark, I drink too much. Probably around 30-40 units per week depending on social life and stress!. But I ONLY drink wine and maybe an occasional beer. No spirits, or weird cocktails. I know it should not make a difference but indulge me.

I drink lots of wine on the weekends. I can drink more than a bottle of wone a night by myself. Friday, Sat and Sundays I drink wine and once in awhile I will have a shot of limonciello or something like that. I drink about five glasses of wine in one sitting on the weekends, so that equals about 15 drinks a weekend. That is funny because I went to the Dr. yesterday and she asked me how much I drank a week I said about five or six drinks, so if that is doubled it is about 15, hahahaha funny.

I prefer vodka as it has fewer calories and wine gives me monster hangovers, the headache I get is unbelievable. However I do drink wine occassionaly. I would say I drink too much, socially and as A*O said if I'm really stressed.

On a weekend I drink on both the Friday and Saturday, it's just become routine. It's a social thing and especially with Christmas coming up I expect to be drinking far more. We've got loads of things lined up, boyfriends birthday, xmas, new year etc. I've been invited to a Karaoke night on Boxing day and seeing as I'm painfully shy and that my dog farting sounds more pleasing to the ear than my singing it's fair to say that on that night I'll probably be having a months recommended unit intake in one go!!!

I'd say I drink almost every Friday and Saturday even if I'm not going out. I drink sensibly most of the time now though I hardly binge like I did when I was younger. I might have the odd glass in the week too but not very often.

I try to refrain from drinking on nights before I go to work. So that generally limits me to at most 2 nights a week. Vodka is my drink of choice, and I'll mix it usually with something like pomogranate juice.

Wine gives me headaches as well. Not really hangover headaches. I figure it's the sulfates and nitrates or whatever is in it.

I drink once a week,on Friday I will sit down with hubby and watch tv and have about 3-4 beer.I'm not much into the party scene anymore.

When I have lunch or dinner at home (= maybe 6-7 meals a week) I have a small glass of wine with it. I'll drink two if BF's with me.
I almost never drink beer, I sometime drink a little amaretto or limoncello after dinner. Occasionally when I go out I have a martini or a caipirinha, but I go out to dance salsa most of the time, and that kind of dancing doesn't mix well at all with drinking

The worst times are during the holidays when we have a pre-dinner drink, then drink some 5dl strong red wine (for two) and then have a liquor or something. That usually means Barb will sleep while BF drives her back home. I need my after-drink-beauty-nap if I want to be ready for some good action afterwards

Oh, and I hate getting really drunk. Fortunately I can already get very silly with just water and the right mood

I used to drink a few glasses of wine per week but currently I'm on pain meds that would croak my liver if I dared drink booze with them. So for the last 6 weeks nothing, before that one or two glasses of wine per week.

A lad in my office is 23 years old and drinks so much his doctor told him if he didn't stop right away he'd be dead in a few years. He stopped for a week or so but he's back the same as ever now.

Every weekend without fail he gets wrecked, he can never remember what he'd done.

One time, our boss took us to Barcelona for a weekend and this lad was so drunk he was pooring himself full glasses of straight vodka and downing it in front of everyone. We were all telling him to stop but he didn't listen. he soon got bored of us moaning at him (even though we were doing it for his own safety) he wondered off on his own in a foreign country, got lost and we didn't see him til the next day when he finally turned up at the hotel.

he said he doesn't remember a thing but keeps having flash backs of being chatted up at a bar in a church by 2 monks. God knows where he went!!!

I drink usually only on the weekends. Lately I've been good and am only going out either Friday or Saturday, not both like I'm used to. However, when I do go out, I usually drink about 5-10 drinks. Wine give me massive headaches so I only drink it with really nice dinners out. There's something that seems weird with ordering a Red bull/vodka at a 5 star restaurant. But otherwise, the red bull/vodka or vanilla stoli/diet is my drink of choice.

In a week? Between six-eight shots of vodka. I'm a lightweight when it comes to alcohol and anything other than vodka usually makes me incredibly ill. Though I can handle the occasional Jager Bomb or Patron Silver shot.

Party pooper here: A Big Fat Zero...never drink...hate the taste of all of it and just don't see the point...I'm always the DD when my bf and I go out.

It really, really depends on the weekend. If it's a work weekend for me, then I'm home and not going out with friends, so I don't drink. If I'm on campus, I go out with the boys friday and saturday night, and then it depends on my mood. There are some nights where I'll have 1 or 2 beers and not want anymore, nights where I'll drink a 6 pack, and then there are the nights where we go insane, and on the very, very rare occasion, I've been known to drink most of a bottle of vodka in 1 night (but my body lets me know exactly what it thought about that decision for a day or 2 afterwards.

I drink a lot and don't care I drink about 5-7 drinks in one night. I seldom get hangovers anymore. I drink about 3-4 nites a week b/c we are waiting for our new store to open and I have lots of free time!

In the last month, I've stopped drinking. I don't know what happened--it just stopped being fun, so I quit.
