Do hot showers relieve muscle pains?
Well it's ironic, isn't it? All my life I've heard that hot showers relieve muscle pains, and just now (literally; I'm typing this naked) I have a shower and sure enough I get a neck pain.

I thought they were supposed to HELP! By RELAXING! Boo!

I don't know about showers... I've always found that hot baths relieve muscle pains. I like to fill the tub up with as much water as it can hold and then sink down into it, with only my face above water so that I can breathe.

They help me. I really get sore by the end of the week, from working out so much, and a shower really helps to ease the muscle pains and cramps. It could be in my head but it does work for me.

I think they help. I know when I've tweaked my back playing basketball or sleeping weird (which is a conundrum all in itself) taking a good hot shower really seems to loosen me up.

you should try soaking in a hot bath filled with epsom salt (I used to play volleyball, go swimming a few days a week and do track/running and it really helps with muscle pain)..... you can buy epsom salt at most drugstores btw- and just pour about half of the container into a hot bath and soak in it for as long as you can
feel better

That's always been so strange to me - that epsom salt would help to relieve pain. Weird. but, heck if it works - it works.
(maybe it's just a placebo though - and it works because you think it's going to work)
haha

I've heard that hot showers are bad for the skin. Whenever I have a really hot shower I'm completely red when I get out Someone then told me that it leads to all sorts of yuckiness on the body.
I swear to God i hate being human!

I always get pain relief from sunbathing. The heat seems to melt the tenseness away.

I've just done my back in (I'm 20-sodding-3 and I'm off work with a bad back) and I was advised that if you get a pain, put a cold compress on it, use cold for the first 24 hours, and then put heat on it. If you have a pain and put heat on it immediately it will draw more blood to the area and can cause any swelling to enlarge.
On a side note, I went to a physio yesterday and it was the best thing I've ever done. I'm painkilled and muscle relaxanted up to the eyeballs (and it would seem I'm sensitive to diazepam, who knew?) but the best thing was when they used electric currents on my back yesterday; I swear it helped eased things like you wouldn't believe!
