Default Pole Dancing

I decided that I wanted to mix up my work outs a little and do something a little different so I've taken up Pole Dancing. I started my 6 week beginners course last night and let me tell you, that is quite a work out just learnign the moves let a lone trying to put together a basic routine - and thats just the first lesson. My thighs, my arms, my hip flexor, my butt - all aching in a serious way. I have to do more guy push ups to give myself the upper body strength to hold myself up for longer. But it was fun and silly and all the girls giggled all the way through it. Its nice to do something active and not have it be really competative.

It also gave me an excuse to buy camo hot pants and some new knee high boots.

So has anyone else done this? if not, whats the most left of center activity you've done thats actually got you a good work out?

Totally in the same boat as MaryJane - would love to do it, but there is nothing here offered.

Where do you live Pandabaire? If you live in the same area as me we can get together and do our thang with the street-light poles.

I really wanted to try this when I found they were enrolling at the community center in Chicago, but had a boyfriend at the time who wouldn't allow it (weird, huh?) But now that I'm single and capable I'm far far away with no poles in sight (less I want to actually make money off it )

Ok I am going to be devil's advocate here. You all would put down a stripper doing the exact thing you are doing in your pole dancing class. Yet the stripper is actually making money off of working out. You say the stripper is a whore, etc. yet you condone her work b/c you are trying to mimic it. You can justify it as aerobics or whatever, but you could easily work out on the treadmill. Secretly, I think most women are fascinated by the stripper's job, if not why try spending money to emulate in some bogus class?

i don't think many people equate stripper with whore. a stripper who jerks of a client is a whore though

A stripper takes off her clothes for money..and poles dances.

These women seem to just want to pole dance.

I see a difference... you don't??

Going to a class; where although I have never been to one myself, I am doubting these women remove clothes or have horny men ogling them and offering them cash.

I'm going to believe that you are just pulling my leg here because no sane person would see it as the SAME

Of course it's not the SAME! But other than the clothes, it is a sensual dance made to turn on the guy/guys in front of you. I just think whether you get paid to do or take a class to do it, who cares? If you do it for your man at home, I assume clothes come off, I just am not as biased as a lot of women.

So, its a whorish thing to do if you dance sedutively in front of your husband/boyfriend and remove clothes...okkkkkk

There is a big difference. I take my clothes off for my boyfriend, NOT for the men at the place I am employed.

Personally, I would like to try pole dance neither to make any money out of it (not that anybody would pay me anyway ) nor to find an alternative way to take my clothes off, because I don't think that pole dancing necessarily involves stripping. Or it does? I might be wrong about this.

Anyway, the only reason why I would like to try pole dance is only to do a different type of dance/workout.
There's already the treadmill, the bicycle, the weights and all those other machines at the gym.
And there's also the pole.

The difference is that pole dance is closer to dancing than to working out, so instead of going 1-2 1-2 1-2 on the treadmill or lifting weights, in this case you can move to the music and put more fantasy and your personality into it, so it's more fun.

This is my point of view.
