Weight Watchers
I'm starting up Weight Watchers again this week. It's been a while since I've done it and am wondering if there is any new information that I should know about. Also, does anyone one know some really good meals or snacks with low points? Thanks

Re: Weight Watchers
I'm with ya girl. We can be a support group for each other if you want, I need to start up again too. I haven't heard anything new about points, I don't use the core plan, I don't like it. I'll post some recipes and some of my tips and tricks when I get back from class.

Re: Weight Watchers
Great!! I need all the support I can get. I did better when I actually went to the meetings, but it got expensive after a while. The best website for Weight Watchers I've found is this one: http://www.dwlz.com/
Gives all sorts of links with recipes and restaurants too.

Re: Weight Watchers
Dottie's Weight Loss Zone is FABULOUS. I was going to suggest that one to you.
Aimee's Adventures is another great one (I'm always scared to google it in public places though b/c of possible porn that can pop up-it just sounds like a porn title to me ). The best part of hers is the recipe section. She has SO many that she has actually tried herself, and when she makes them she takes pictures so you can see how they are supposed to look. Some of it looks like diet food, but everything I have made tastes amazing. It even passes the boyfriend test (he hates anything low fat, but everything I've cooked where the recipe came from that page wasn't even a blip on his radar). The address to the recipe section is: http://www.aimeesadventures.com/Recipes.html
I need support too. Meetings are too expensive and too hard to find for me (small town, there's like 2 possible times a week). I lost about 30 pounds last summer on WW when I was hardcore with it. Then I moved back into the dorm and got frustrated. I'm finally giving myself the boot in the ass to go back on program.

Re: Weight Watchers
Thanks for that other site. I need to go grocery shopping again before I can do any real cooking She has a lot of recipes on there to go through, that's handy.

Re: Weight Watchers
Good luck guys! I started WW the last week in September. I've lost 15 lbs so far. I do the online program. It helps me be accountable without me having to go to meetings. Those other web sites suggested are great.
Here's a good recipe if you like pumpkin:
Take one box spice cake mix, mix in one can pumpkin and 1/3 cup water. Bake in cooking spray coated muffin pans according to the package directions. Makes 24 pumpkin muffins -- 2 points each. For this recipe you DO NOT add any of the ingredients listed on the cake mix box, simply mix in the pumpkin and water. You can use yellow or devil's food cake mix too (I've only used the spice)
Enjoy

Re: Weight Watchers
I just made these tonight. They were pretty good -- especially if you are egg roll fiend like I am.
Egg Rolls
Makes 8, 1 point each
Ingredients
1 head Chinese cabbage, outer leaves removed, shredded
2 medium carrot(s), peeled and shredded
2 medium garlic clove(s), minced
2 medium scallion(s), white and green parts, chopped
1 Tbsp ginger root, fresh, minced or 1/2 tsp dried
1 Tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
2 tsp cornstarch
1 tsp sesame oil
8 average egg roll wrapper(s), about 1/2 oz each
4 serving olive oil cooking spray (5 one-second sprays per serving), or enough to coat egg rolls
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350ºF. Coat a large baking sheet with cooking spray.
Place cabbage in a microwavable dish and cover. Microwave on high until wilted, about 4 minutes; drain and transfer to a large bowl. Add carrots, garlic, scallions, ginger, soy sauce, cornstarch and oil; mix well.
Arrange egg roll wrappers on a clean, dry surface. Spoon cabbage mixture diagonally onto each wrapper. Fold over one corner to cover filling. Fold up both corners. Moisten edges of remaining flap with water and roll up wrapper jellyroll style until sealed. Transfer egg rolls to prepared baking sheet and coat with cooking spray.
Bake until golden brown, about 25 minutes. Serve hot.

Re: Weight Watchers
Cooking spray has to be one of the best inventions ever from the weight loss perspective. It seems to make a decent replacement for just about anything fried. Try making chicken "fried" steak with them (recipe from the Aimee's Adventure's page), it's SO good!
1 Pound Beef Eye of Round Steak
1/3 Cup All-Purpose Flour
1 teaspoon Lawry's Seasoned Salt
3/4 Cup Seasoned Bread Crumbs
2 Egg Whites, beaten
2 tablespoons Skim Milk
1 (12 ounce) Jar Fat Free Chicken Gravy
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Spray a cookie sheet with cooking spray.
Pound steaks to 1/8 inch thickness. Set aside. In a bowl, stir together flour, seasoned salt, and bread crumbs. In a separate bowl, beat together egg whites, and skim milk. Coat meat in crumb mixture. Dip the coated meat into egg mixture, and then re-dip in crumb mixture. Place breaded meat on prepared cookie sheet. Spray top of meat with non-fat cooking spray. Bake for 10 minutes. Turn over. Spray top of meat with non-fat cooking spray. Bake an additional 11 minutes. Breading will be crispy and slightly golden brown when done. Microwave gravy for 2 minutes or until fully heated. Pour 1/4 cup gravy over each steak before serving.

Re: Weight Watchers
I want to start WW again. I keep telling myself that I'm 'just gonna start being reasonable', but I REALLY need some retraining on my portion sizes. I lost 15 pounds on WW last year, and I've been at that plateau ever since. I really need to ditch 15 more, at least.
I'll just keep checking in here at this thread for encouragement!

Re: Weight Watchers
I've found my new favorite snack is chips and dip. I get the Ruffles Light and it's only 70 calories and no fat per serving (17 chips) and the Dean's Light french onion dip I use is only 35 calories and 1.5 fat grams per serving (2 tablespoons). It's really good and only like 4 points for two servings of each. I of course double both to get a little bigger snack, but you don't have to if you're short on points.
I also got baby carrots which will be good with the dip too. You need to try it if you like that kind of dip, tastes just like the real thing to me. There's a fat free one, but I'm nervous about trying that one.

Re: Weight Watchers
I eat carrots with salsa. It's my favorite way to get a serving of veggies in, and I love spicy stuff.

Re: Weight Watchers
Animal Crackers are really good too. Only 2 pts for 16 cookies
Still going stong here on day 5 of doing this. Hope I keep it up now that it's Friday. Going to a Red Wing game tonight and I'm sure those large beers will be calling my name. Thank God for flex points!!!

Re: Weight Watchers
Haha, keep it to light beer and use the college trick.
Save points throughout the day (eat a little less or lots of REALLY low point food), you'll have less food in your system and more points to spend. So, you can have the beer, but have less of it b/c the lack of food will have the alcohol affect you faster. Go over to the school/college message board on the weight watchers official site, girls are ALWAYS talking about how they do this.

Re: Weight Watchers
I know it's probably not the healthiest way to go about it, but that's what I'm doing today!!
