What are possible reasons why someone bruises easily?
What are some possible reasons why someone bruises easily?
and whats normal vs. not normal?
how many bruises should you have on your body at any given time?
Is it normal if one arm or leg bruises more than the other?
Can someone never bruise at all and if so are they healthier?
what are some proven real ways to get rid of bruises faster?

Alice, don't you have some vascular issues? Like you had some leg veins treated recently? Vascular problems or abnormalities can contribute to this, or are you on any kind of blood thinner? Also, are you getting enough vitamins?

Re: What are possible reasons why someone bruises easily?
good question; i believe my vitamin intake to be satisfactory but i do need to excercise more often and more rigorously, but i'm just curious b/c sometime i won't bruise and then all of a sudden i'll wake up w/ a couple of bruises all on 1 arm or leg and i won't know why or where they came from! wierd i guess, but it isn't a disease or anything i hope.

Has this just started, or have you always been this way?

It could just be genetics, Alice.

Re: What are possible reasons why someone bruises easily?
Just looked this up - didn't you lose some weight recently? Apparently you lose cushion that way & bruise more easily. Of course, Courtney Love never looked TOO skinny & she's always one bruised-up bitch. I just wonder about your whole blood-flow situation.
Quote:
Bruising easily does not mean that you have a serious health problem, especially if bruising is minimal or only shows up once in a while. Women bruise more easily than men, especially from minor injuries on the thighs, buttocks, and upper arms.
Older adults often bruise easily from minor injuries, especially injuries to the forearms, hands, legs, and feet. As a person ages, the skin becomes less flexible and thinner because there is less fat under the skin. The cushioning effect of the skin decreases as the fat under the skin decreases. These changes, along with skin damage from exposure to the sun, cause blood vessels to break easily. When blood vessels break, bruising occurs.
Occasionally easy bruising is a sign of a health problem and may be caused by:
A medication, such as aspirin, blood thinners (anticoagulants), or some antibiotics.
Infection that causes the buildup of toxin in the blood or tissues (sepsis).
A bleeding or clotting disorder, such as hemophilia, von Willebrand's disease, or thrombocytopenia.
Other diseases that affect clotting. Examples include:
Chronic inflammatory diseases, such as lupus.
Liver disease, such as cirrhosis.
Some types of cancer, such as Hodgkin's disease, leukemia, or multiple myeloma.
Inflammation of a blood vessel (vasculitis).
Malnutrition, such as deficiencies of vitamins B12, C, or K, or folic acid.
Bruises that do not go away within 4 weeks of an injury may mean that another problem is preventing healing or that the injury was worse than you suspected.
Call your health professional for an evaluation if you are concerned about how easily you bruise, or if bruises don't seem to be healing normally. Your health professional can evaluate the cause of your bruises and recommend treatment.

Re: What are possible reasons why someone bruises easily?
It can just mean that your blood clots a bit slowly like me (I've had extensive blood tests done because of bruises) and there's no solution, just a cream OTC that makes them fade away a bit faster

Re: What are possible reasons why someone bruises easily?
I've always bruised very easily. I can literally bump something lightly and I'll have a bruise that lasts for weeks. I take vitamins and am disgustingly healthy, so I think that it's often just genetic. My mother and sisters are the same way.
