Fruit Fast
I had a really not healthy weekend, plus I've been eating a lot of processed foods lately (plus alcohol, plus smoking for a few years-I've quit since though....). I was thinking I should try to detox myself. I know some people here have gone on fruit fasts before. I googled it to see if there is some kind of method to it and I found 2 versions. One said just eat fruit or fruit juices for 3 days, the other said 1 day of water only, 1 day of fruit and fruit juice, 1 day of vegetable and vegetable juice.
Has anyone here ever done a fruit fast? Which version did you do? How did you feel afterwards, did it make a big difference in how you felt?

Re: Fruit Fast
I'd suggest doing it for 24/hour only. And you really want to stay away from tropical fruit, they contain a lot of carbohydrates and sugar, and not as much fibre as blander fruits.
You really can't do a just fruit fast for too long, your body needs complete proteins, especially your liver - it needs them to detoxify (by pairing toxins in your body with certain proteins, it turns them into less toxic substances, which can then be urinated out)

Re: Fruit Fast
You have to watch what kinds of fruit you eat. The acids in some fruits can do more harm than good, and can mess up your teeth and gums something awful. Pears, apples and melons are all low acid fruits.

Re: Fruit Fast
Thanks. I'm going to the grocery store in a little bit to get some melon. I'm in the mood for it.

Re: Fruit Fast
Thanks guys. I went to the grocery store and got watermelon, honeydew, peaches, and some bananas b/c they were all on sale. I also bought some apples b/c we needed them anyway (we eat a TON of apples in my house).

Re: Fruit Fast
I should do a fast/cleanse before I go on holiday. Only 11 days left before I have to wear a bathing suit in public. Oh my god....
