What drives you more - appetite or hunger?

I started thinking about this reading the Irish Food thread because I had just had a well balanced snack and enough water so I was not technically hungry. Yet reading about the Potato Leek soup made me feel like eating and I get it confused with hunger. I read a book once and a nutritionist was talking about the difference between the two. Real hunger is when your blood sugar gets low and your stomach feels empty and could come with a slight headache or even dizziness. Appetite is wanting to eat. I have to be really careful because some of my medicine gives me a bigger appetite so I THINK I am hungry if I do not ask myself when I ate last and if I am not mistaking thirst for hunger. If it was 3 hours ago I am probably hungry. But if I ate 20 minutes ago and I got enough protein/carbs I just want to eat. I can't even watch cooking shows anymore-my appetite is triggered! Rather than fight the urge I just don't watch them.

Oh man. When I get hungry, it hurts. I feel sick and my stomach hurts. It growls and rumbles. Ugh.

The appetite thing, for me is that I have a longing for a certain food and could eat tons of it until I get sick.

When I'm hungry I feel like I'm about to throw up.

For me appetite usually comes when I'm really really bored and I'm thinking 'hm what do I want for lunch/dinner' and yeah its bad. lol.

Appetite drives me through the day, I swear I never reach hunger I am to busy feeding my forever hungry appetite.

Appetite all the way! Last night I had just finished dinner, was completely full, and started randomly opening the cupboards trying to find a snack! AAAARRGHH! It's a good thing I keep no unhealthy snacks in the house, or I would have eaten them, and gotten a stomach ache, since I was already full!

My appetite is ridiculous!

I'm a glutton

My appetite is up all day long. The trick is stopping when the hunger is gone, and it's not easy

I snack through the day... fruit, fruit and more fruit... or just have a chocolate crisis like yersterday around midnight...

We went on a cruise at the end of February and then stayed in Puerto Rico for a few days before coming home. We had been in PR for a WHOLE day before I finally felt REAL hunger and realized the whole entire time on the cruise I had not for one moment really been hungry. It made me feel gross. The food on the boat wasn't even that good but I stuffed myself. They didn't have plates at the buffets they had platters for you to load up...

I only tend to eat when I'm hungry (when my stomach is growling and actually hurts a little). It's prolly not a good idea because I often don't eat 3 regular meals a day, usually just once or twice. It's a bad habit I developed in college, when I was on campus I hardly ate anything cuz the food was expensive and crappy at our caf and I never packed lunch for myself.
