i like tati's idea of each member of the club getting to pick.

We could do it like a RL book club.

If we are doing a book per month then we get 12 people to volunteer as "book pickers", ie, March = Chalet, April = sputnik, May = A*O etc. Each person picks a book and we discuss it the following month.

So, can we have 12 volunteers please? First come, first served. I'm in.

I'm in. But someone else go first, please.

OK so let's get 12 volunteer Book Pickers and we'll arrange them alphabetically. That puts me #1 (natch) but I'm happy to go last if anyone objects. So now we need 11 more... Come on guys, this will only work if we are prepared to participate. You just have to suggest a favourite book, it's not difficult.

Wherever I am on the list I'm going to pitch in with The Ghost by Robert Harris. It's NOT a spooky ghost story despite the title.

^That sounds like a good first book.

Since I'm a volunteer, I'll nominate The Darkest Evening Of The Year by Dean Koontz, for whenever it's my turn. I was going to suggest Wuthering Heights, but I figured a lot of people wouldn't be interested in that one, or they've already read it.

Happy to be first pick if nobody objects. Speak now or forever hold your peace! Assuming you are OK with it let's make this month's book The Ghost by Robert Harris, discuss on 1 April (no spoilers beforehand please) and by then we will hopefully have enough Pickers to go another few months. If nobody else puts their hand up then April's book will be The Darkest EVening Of The Year by Dean Koontz (Sparkly) to discuss 1 May.

    Yay!

I wish we could do it sooner than a month, but it gives all of us a chance to buy it and read it. Can't wait!

Ok - I'm going to order The Ghost (Robert Harris) and The Darkest Evening (Dean Koontz) right now. So, no changing your minds. While I'm shopping, I'll see if anything else catches my eye for my pick!

Here's my pick - it's just a random pick. The School of Essential Ingredients - Erica Bauermeister.

I looked it up online, and it does sound interesting.

i love this idea. and will gladly pick a book but i can't do anything before may, since i'm now living in south america and have to have enough time to order the book. don't have a title yet but will think of something soon.

Cool beans - I'll throw my name into the hat as a picker. Looks like I won't be up for a while, lots of time to think on it!

Just picked up The Ghost at the library. I'm gonna think on if I want to throw my name in for picking books.
