That seems like an awfully long time between books. But what do I know?

Is it a book every month..or a book every two months..it looks like it will be one month for this coming book..but then two months for the next one? ( )

Yes - given our busy lives I thought a book every 2 months was more convenient, but if you want a book a month that's fine. Can we take yet another vote on this? Discussion day will still be the first Monday of the month.

Every two months is fine with me. Just wanted clarification. I am down with whatever is decided. If I finish up early there is plenty of online porn to keep me occupied.

OK - It's Monday 31 December here (you guys will have to catch up!) and The People Have Spoken.

The inaugural GR Book Club Choice is......... Discomfort Zone by Jonathan Frantzen (7 votes).

Atonement had 4 votes after people changed their minds (sheesh) and Haunted got 2 votes.

I will open a new thread to discuss the book on Monday 4 February so get reading and in the meantime NO chatting about it so everyone has a chance to read it without seeing spoilers or other distractions here. Deal?

It might make it easier in the future to set up a separate thread to vote for each book using the Poll feature for voting.

That way people can only vote once, votes can't be changed, people can vote anonymously if, for whatever reason, they wish, and it'll keep up with the tally for you.

Ohhhhhh good idea! The problem is we have a LONG list if books which I couldn't fit into one poll. Maybe we have to whittle it down to a shortlist. Sigh. More voting LOL

I do not think the vote changing was such a bad idea given that there was a question about the availability of Atonement and all. It would be nice if the book were something that would be available without someone having to purchase it..and there was evidence given that Atonement was unavailable at some libraries and all due to current popularity, etc.. Just a thought.

*The poll idea is a good one..I wonder what is the current limit for choices in a poll here at GR???

Yes I think you are right. My library has Discomgort Zone in stock so I am off to order it on Wednesday. It pleases me greatly that I am not spending money buying a book. On 31 January we are going back into the world of having a mortgage again. We haven't had one of those since mid 2001. So I am back to being the biggest stinge again for a few years.

I wsa all for Atonement and would have loved to change my vote but didn't want to stuff A*O around as she is being kind enough to do all this work for us. Huge round of applause.
