Anyone want to start this up again?
The last post was in July
Anyone have the time/want to read a book and discuss it in a month or two?

I love reading and writing..definitely up for a book club. I wasn't involved in this last time around, but think it sounds really fun!

Yeah, I'll be in. I'm not sure what the problems were with the last go we had at it.

I'd possibly be interested, if it's a book I can easily find here.

The problem is that we never organised a proper schedule. First, someone has to pick a book and then everyone has to read it by a certain date. People who have already read it then sometimes start discussing it before that date so it all ends up a mess. My suggestion:
If you are interested, sign up (I'll start a new thread GR Bookclub 2008) and suggest a book. Bear in mind we are an international group so try to pick something we are likely to be able to find in our local book shop or library (or Amazon online!).
We'll need to agree a regular Book Club Date. Once a month or perhaps every 2 months (eg, my local book club meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month).
NO discussing the book until the agreed date.
On the same date we will vote on the next book choice.

^^Sounds good. I actually have time to read things I want to read now that my thesis is finally done! And I promise not to argue with anyone Honey.

If I'm remembering correctly, we seemed to have a hard time actually choosing the book. Some people would have read it, others just didn't like the sounds of the book, etc.
Maybe everyone could suggest a book, we could do a thread with poll voting, and whatever book wins the majority is what we read.

I've started a new thread.
I agree we should vote on the book choice - each member makes a suggestion - and if we've already read it that's too bad. You can still discuss it! And if we 'don't like the sound' of a book that's good too. I've been 'forced' to read things I wouldn't normally pick and have had some lovely surprises. And if you really HATE the book that's OK too - just be prepared to say why you hate it LOL

That was my problem as well. I hadn't finished and already the discussion was pretty much over. I'm willing to give it another go.
