Wrestler and Wife Argued Over Child Care

ATLANTA (AP) - In the days before pro wrestler Chris Benoit killed his wife and child and hanged himself, the couple argued over whether he should stay home more to take care of their mentally retarded 7-year-old son, an attorney for the wrestling league said Wednesday.

"I think it's fair to say that the subject of caring for that child was part of what made their relationship complicated and difficult, and it's something they were both constantly struggling with," said Jerry McDevitt, an attorney for World Wrestling Entertainment. "We do know it was a source of stress and consternation."

McDevitt said the wrestling organization learned from the couple's friends and relatives that the Benoits were struggling with where to send the boy to school since he had recently finished kindergarten.

He also said Benoit's wife didn't want him to quit wrestling, but she "wanted him to be at home more to care for the kid. She'd say she can't take care of him by himself when he was on the road."

The child suffered from a rare medical condition called Fragile X Syndrome, an inherited form of mental retardation often accompanied by autism, McDevitt said.

Over the past weekend, authorities said, Benoit strangled his wife, suffocated his son and placed a Bible next to their bodies before hanging himself with a weight-machine cable in the couple's suburban home. No motive was offered for the killings, which were discovered Monday.

^^This isn't going to stop them. There have been other violent deaths in wrestling related to roids and it seems some are still using. If seeing Lyle Alzado, wasting away from cancer, begging people not to use roids didn't stop them, what would?

Distorted faces, raisin sacks, and tic tac ding dongs are worth being able to flex?

^^Yes, it is serious. This is just something that I think about. If someone is willing to distort himself and put his body through agony, what state of mind is he in to begin with?

True. I forgot about Lyle Alzado. Yeah, these guys are idiots. Nothing's going to stop them except death.

Somebody altered Chris Benoit's entry in Wikipedia to mention his wife's death – before her body was found.

The Web bio was changed early Monday to say the pro wrestler missed a match over the weekend because his wife had died. Hours later, authorities found the bodies of the World Wrestling Entertainment star, his wife and their 7-year-old son.

Cary Bass of Wikipedia traced the alteration to somebody using an Internet protocol address registered in Stamford, Conn., the home base of World Wrestling Entertainment, according to the Associated Press.

An IP address, however, doesn't have to be broadcast from its registration location. Bass said it was unknown where the posting was sent from, the AP reports.

The bodies were found in the family's suburban Atlanta home. Authorities say Benoit asphyxiated his wife Nancy and their son Daniel before hanging himself.

If he didn't do it, could the whole thing be a set up?
As far as conspiricy theories go, he could've been holed up in the house with a killer all weekend & the killer sent the texts; up-dated the WWW; drugged the dogs, killed everyone & left locking up as he/she/it/they went.....
Didn't someone say that there had been some weird deaths in the world of wrestling recently?

^ Yes, Scary Sherry died within the last month and last reports were they didn't know how.
I just can't grasp him doing this and I hate the way they treated it as an open/closed case right from the get go. As soon as they found him they said he did it. Um, shouldn't they have investigated for a least an hour. haha
