It's scripted - maybe not to the word but the guys were egging it on and why would they have a lighter on their desk? It's not like it's a desk they do paper work at it's just a prop.

They actually gave Paris MORE coverage than less.

^At first I was skeptical too, but he could have had a smoke outside right before air time.

This article says that she screwed up. Instead, I think that people applauded her. She's a newscaster with passion.

Hmm that could be...

I didn't mean any offense to her though - from what little I could judge she does seem very passionate.

Sometimes it takes immaturity and tackiness to wake people up.

If she had been "appropriate" and demure like most women are taught to be, rather than actively take out her rage and frustration against the vapidness and soul-killing outdatedness of Big Media, no one would pay attention and frankly, no one would care.

This is the first time that people outside the blogosphere are talking about how utterly useless Big Media has gotten, thanks to this woman's actions.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

I applaud the woman for making a move that could get her put down as an angry bitch who simply needed to take her Midol that day. We need more women like her on air, not the sweet little Barbie dolls who do what they're told, and dress and wear their hair not like professional women with education and training, but rather like they want to seduce the male viewer into buying them a drink.

^Bravo, Bonham!

Paris is not news and should not be treated as news. Celebrities in general should be ignored where actual serious news is concerned.

I applaud that newscaster.

Paris, album releases, movies, celebs...all of that is for E, or the entertainment time slot.

When every person going to jail makes news, then let Paris be the lead for that. Until then, as gruesome as it is, and it's nasty, give me the horrible news so I know what's goign on in this world of ours.

Does anyone else see the irony here of someone protesting against giving undue publicity to an attention grabbing whore like Paris by pulling an over the top attention grabbing stunt, which in itself fully detracted from the legitimate news of the day and turned the protester into an attention grabbing whore herself?

^ My thoughts exactly. This presenter acted dumber, more childish and more like a spolied brat than Paris did when she was being taken to jail.
It was just a little over the top and very immature for national news. So what she didn't like the subject matter, it's not her job to filter the news, it's her job to report it. (not that I really call the Paris saga news, but you get the point. lol)

No, I don't really see any irony there because the woman was trying to do her job, which is report the news, and she was pissed off that Paris was the top news story. And justifiably so.

Sometimes, when you want people to sit up and take notice of something wrong you can't be nice and polite about it. You have to make some noise, and that's what she did. It was risky, because she could lose her job, but she stood up for her convictions. And who's to say that she didn't try to bring this point up behind the scenes and got brushed off by her bosses, which prompted her on-air rant.

^I agree. I think sometimes we just ....have had enough. She obviously did, and I don't blame her at all.

The point is...the woman is RIGHT. Paris is not news. It's disgusting to devote airtime to that herpes-carrying piece of shit skank.

I agree too that Paris isn't news, has herpes, is a skank, and should not be on a serious news channel, but let's face it CNN's first priority is to make money and that is done by bringing in ratings, so no she's not gonna lose her job, maybe this will even get her a job with more exposure than reading the news on a basic cable morning show. How many people who didn't know who she was yesterday do now? That added exposure is all she really wanted from this, standing up for her convictions was at best a nice bonus. By buying into it as a selfless act and allowing it to convince them that she is a respectable news person people are allowing themselves to be used by her cheap ploy to get ahead.
