There is no difference, not in the race treatment, anyways.

Is there a difference between you posing for personal photos for your significant other, and you posing for a pornographic website?

Of course, there's a HUGE difference. Antonella wasn't selling herself for pornography.

But like I said: the bottom line is that FRENCHIE IS TALENTED. Antonella is NOT. So who is the real winner here? And don't anybody give me this shit about Girls Gone Wild and posing for Playboy. Frenchie has a real career that will probably last. Antonella will be a has-been by next year.

    This whole issue is ludicrous.

Simon was very kind to Jennifer during the competition. He had everything to do with her being given the opportunity to be seen & heard by the world, and little to do with her losing the competition.

Simon is harsh, but every contestant knows that when they decide to compete. AI had certainly been around long enough for Jennifer to enter with full knowledge of what she was getting into. Don't want blunt criticism? Don't compete on AI.

Fact: Jennifer is a relatively heavy girl, & Simon recognized this as a possible obstacle to becoming a pop star. Was this cruel? Untrue? Irrelevant? Did he create the relevant societal norms? No - no- no- and NO.

FACT: If Jennifer hadn't appeared on AI, she wouldn't be known like she is now, she wouldn't have been in Dreamgirls, she wouldn't have received awards and she wouldn't be a household name.

Icepik made an excellent point - Simon is obviously impressed by Lakisha this year; he is not automatically prejudicial toward contestants of color. As a matter of fact, he very obviously became a fan of Mandisa last year, who was extremely heavy & larger than any contenders this year. But let's call a spade a spade here. Overweight singers are handicapped by their size in the entertainment world. They must perform better, so that their talent overshadows their lack of traditional physical appeal. It's an issue worthy of mention.

FACT: Jennifer was NOT VERY GOOD when she competed on AI. Sorry, she just wasn't. It was apparent that her voice was quite good, and she had several moments that were enchanting & enthralling, but she had just as many moments that were mediocre & cringe-inducing. I ask you: was that Simon's fault? Was it AI's fault?

If Simon criticized her clothes, the girl deserved it. Several nights, she looked unbearably crappy. I'll never forget the Pepto Bismol outfit where she was covered in cotton-candy pink from headband to shoes. She deserved to get called out on her appearance.

It's soooooooooo easy to say at this point that AI had an amazing talent close to their bosom & they failed to appreciate it, failed to nurture it, failed to encourage it, and cruelly pushed it from the nest. THAT IS NOT WHAT HAPPENED & those of you who want to wave the race card or the fat card need to take a very deep breath & count to ten before you jump on the conclusion bandwagon.

Jennifer is cheapening her win by casting aspersions. To me, the funny thing is that by chance or fate or karma or WHATEVER, she landed a role that was perfect for showcasing her voice, her feelings and her size. Come on, think about it. The role of Effie was custom-made for her by God / Universe / Karma / Whatever. It's done. It's over. What do you see for her now? How many underdog-overweight-girl-blows-the-roof-off roles ARE there??? And if you think an Oscar guarantees continued recognition and success, I offer you the name of Marisa Tomei.

I promise you all: Within 2 years, Jennifer Hudson will be grateful for whatever attention she can get, and her interviews will reflect much more gratitude toward AI than she is showing now.

This is exactly why I started the thread "What's next for Jennifer Hudson?" I agree she wasn't that great on AI, but she's great now. But there's something ordinary about her that worries me. I like her, she's pretty, great voice, obviously very talented and moves people, but I sense that without the right vehicle and machine behind her, she'll fade away.

I judge a singer by the way they move me, and whether they give me chills as well as hold my attention through an entire song and leave me wanting more. JHud can certainly do that for me. Hell even Beyonce who I don't particularly care for, kicked ASS on Oprah and the Oscars recently.

It's a gamble how these kids play this AI thing after they're done with it. If you go all cutesy Bambi-eyes and gush about it, then you look like a pussytwit. But if you do what Jennifer is doing, which is PERHAPS letting off a little steam, it's a risk getting dissed the way she is now. Personally, I don't mind one bit what she's said.

I read this link: The Truth About Idol Auditions | Vote for the Worst tonight for the first time. I don't doubt JHud experienced all that shit and much more. So why shouldn't she be able to tell it a little bit like it is? Moguls' decision to give her the power backing she needs shouldn't rest on her saying a FEW things about Idol.

GOD the hype, i cant stand the wench. I suppose it makes me mad that some nobody came along and gets an oscar for her FIRST time in a movie EVER! Someone like Denzel Washington, Dakotah Fanning or director Steven Spielberg had to wait SO long to earn theirs? FUCK that, its unfair and typical of the Oscars, so hyped up about the movie-of-the-year.

As soon as I opened this I knew the responses would be "it's racist" and what was the first thing posted.
People need to move on and try to help dissolve racism instead of feeding into it with everything being racist. I can't stand the way every time someone says something that another person doesn't like it's racism.
Get on with it, it's 2007, as long as we keep racism alive by allowing it in the world over petty celeb. stuff then it will never die.

That makes me mad as well. I think she was over hyped. Someone like her is going to crash and burn if she doesn't really hold it together well. Supporting actress Oscars first time out tend to be a curse. What was the last thing Miro Sorvino was in? The thing about the cockroaches that turned into people?

Two actresses who kept making it were Shelly Winters and Dianne Wiest, they won the award twice.

From Wikipedia's Best Supporting Actress page:The rest of everybody who has won the award in recent years is doing pretty dang well, not counting Marisa or Mira Sorvino. I don't think Mira cares. She's raising a family, just had a second child with someone not in the biz.

I copied this video link from a poster on TMZ who defended Jennifer Hudson from all the false allegations that were being thrown at her. The video begins by showing a brief footage of her singing in Dreamgirls. It goes on to show a footage from American Idol, later, a candid interview with Barbara Walters. Jennifer Hudson seemed very humble and sweet. She was also thankful to American Idol for giving her the exposure she needed to pursue her dreams.

Good. I think the idea that Beyonce's people are behind this has some or a lot of truth to it.

At the moment, Jennifer Hudson is one of the most decent and talented women in entertainment. It's such a shame that some people want to bring her down by spreading lies. The video link shows that TMZ and Extra TV blew everything out of proportion by reporting half truths.

Jennifer Hudson signed a record deal with Clive Davis, founder of Arista Records and J Records. He helped launch the careers of famous acts such as: Chicago; Billy Joel; Barry Manilow; Whitney Houston; Carlos Santana; Bruce Springsteen to name a few.

Based on the list, Jennifer Hudson has a very bright future ahead of her. She has something that many young Hollywood starlets lack, and that is, true talent. Looks fade, but talent never dies. When people have forgotten the likes of Britney Spears, Jennifer Hudson will still be marching on.

Simon was mad at Kelly Clarkson too for not saying thank you to idol when she won her grammy.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that people will forget Britney Spears. I'm very glad Clive Davis signed Jennifer. He only signs major talent. With his rep and track record, he should do right by her.
