it was obious to many that he was a fruit, it seems like perhaps she was at a vulnerable and desparate place and probably was in denial about it...regardless though if she should've known or not, if my husband cheated on me with a man i think i'd be feeling the same way...i don't know about writing the letter, that's not my style, neither is using the 3 letter f word, but hey i'm not her...on top of all the bs he's going to challenge her as an author by putting out a book about the relationship. he's such a LOOSER. I say deport him.

Many men and women at the age of 20 have not come to terms with their sexuality, so it might not necessarily have been a case of outright deceit on his part. He may have felt that being with this woman could keep him 'straight'. Also remember that Jamaica is extremely homophobic and therefore if he was living there his whole life he may have never really explored his sexuality. His move to the states could have played in major role in him coming to terms with his sexuality. This happens very often with Caribbean males.
At the end of the day, if she decided to get involved with a guy who was very young and obviously not as mature as she was; she must have considered that there could be problems or maybe his intentions were questionable. IMO she should have exercised better judgment. As someone pointed out there is lot of poverty in Jamaica, I have been there many times, and if you are poor and uneducated, an 'American tourist woman' who is attracted to you will seem like an easy way out of a hard life. Is that right? No. However she should have been a bit more discerning with her choice of men.

That said, you have to agree it was about more than an age gap - the man was GAY. Gay men have absolutely no romantic/sexual interests in women. He conned her. He purposely set out to snag her. He knew he was gay and played her to get into the country.

Totally agree.
This man is evil-- he used her and their marriage, and now he's stirring up all this other crap to use and hurt her some more.

If he ever loved her, he would not be torturing her so... Maybe he loved her for a little while, for what she could give him, but then it played out. I feel sorry for her. But not sorry for her writing talent, she is a great writer.
And he is acting like a greedy heartless jerk!!!

"Basically, I was saying if you don't want me to do any more interviews, just make me an offer -- and she calls it extortion," Plummer said.
Well, I call it extortion too, you asshole!!
