Re: Tatum O'Neal: "My father hates me"
I had no idea the two were related. The seem closer in age than they probably are. Can you imagine Farrah as a step mom?

Re: Tatum O'Neal: "My father hates me"
I don't know if it was on Oprah, but Tatum said at one point she tried to slit her wrists. Obviously, the suicide attempt didn't work, but she said her father mocked her afterwards and said something along the lines of 'you can't even do that right...'
I never read her book, so maybe I'm not remembering it exactly... But, it was along those lines-
Can you believe someone, anyone, could be that big of an ASSHOLE...

Re: Tatum O'Neal: "My father hates me"
I read the book, he is an asshole of titanic proportions, she's been majorly screwed by him, no wonder she took up with another loser who couldn't control his temper, it's a hard cycle to break, every interview I've ever read about Ryan, he is just so full of himself.

Imagine having a vacant mother and a dad who is jealous of your success (which he was) and took it out on her. He was never there for her or her brother except the time he knocked him out to teach him a lesson. Then he dates Farrah and they become so self involved that nobody else exists. And in Hollywood that's cause for suicide, drugs, abuse, you name it. Sad, very sad.

I'm totally on Tatum's side.
Drug use, past horrible behavior and all. She was on The View earlier this week and she's looking and acting great. More power to her. Her childhood was shattering over a long period of time. Anybody who can survive that and thrive is pretty damn strong.
And let's not forget what a major asshole piece of s--- John McEnroe (and probably his wife) is. She's really had it from all sides.
She did say she's now friendly with Farrah due to the illness, and it looked genuine. That's another impressive thing. She's moved on in the best way possible.

she's an "abused and neglected" child who chose to do the same to her own children. How do you think McEnroe ended up with the kids?? She's no fucking angel, herself but she's done some shitty things as well.

^Yeah, but that was a long time ago, like years.
And McEnrogue did nothing to help her avoid those pitfalls, he just let her hang herself so he could have the kids. Sounds like a lot of parents (both male and female) in divorce/custody situations.

I wonder if McEnroe flipped out on her like he did the judges, linemen whatever they are called in tennis. If his off court personality was like his on court he'd have been hell to live with.

So was Ryan's shitty treatment of Tatum and it still appears to be relevant - as I'm sure her treatment of her kids is to them. It seems that we want to give her a free pass but not Ryan? And not McEnroe who is raising the kids that she lost due to her drug usage?? Just because something happened in the past, doesn't make it irrelevant. I might have killed someone years ago, but you know what? It would still be relevant, I'd still be a murderer.

So what you guys are saying is that just because she made horrible mistakes in the past, she can't be given - NOT a pass - but a vote of confidence? Geez, you guys on a jury would be the "let's see 'em fry" type!
