Her career is not over. It may not soar as high as it potentially could have, but she will remain a celebrity in some way.

Why do they keep saying she's "talented"? Since when? That's giving her too much credit.

In her own mind, she thinks she's greater than she is and the paparazzi enforces this. So even if her movies fail, they'll still be there, everywhere to give her false praise.

The insurance companies will decide if she has a career or not. That is what finally got Robert Downey Jr.'s attention. No one could afford the insurance premiums that the companies were requiring to cover the boy.

OK...I'm going to be the voice of dissention. While I don't feel sorry for her, and she is of legal age, i.e. able to make her own decisions, who exactly taught her how to make a good choice? Her mom, by all reports drinks and drugs with her, and makes choices that bring her (Dina) into the limelight, even if Lindsay is hurt by it. She has watched what Hollywood has done to her daughter, and still is pushing to be in a reality show with her other 2 kids. Her dad, the convict? Has he even been a real influence? She has probably been raised more by "her people" than her parents, and they aren't going to deny her anything, for fear of losing their job. So, like every other kids raised with no boundries, she is a spoiled brat with a overwhelming need for attention. So while she should take some of the blame for where her life is, I can't hold her 100% responsible. I'm betting not a single person in her life has given her the tools to transition into a responsible adult.

^She's had several well-adjusted and well-respected Hollywood figures try to help her and take her under their wing (Tina Fey, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jane Fonda)....but she rejected them. I don't feel sorry for her at all. So she had a bad mommy, boo frickin hoo. A lot of us had horrific childhoods and didn't grow up to be such self-centered, drug-addled assholes.

Enh, Hollywood execs make a whole lot of weird ass decisions, but they're based on how they see dollar signs. Obviously people were still hiring Lindsay up until this last DUI and she's been a mess for years! But I'm glad that the major studios have finally agreed she's unbillable for awhile, it's about time they gave in to the cesspool of hate eminating from the blogosphere about Lohan! ROFL
Far Side - big welcome, I like your program

That's right, it all comes down to the insurance companies.

Exactly, Linsday had the support from such great actors to help and guide her. So blaming her parents is a cop out.
Not many troubled teens have the option of allowing someone like Jane Fonda be your mentor.

I don't think Lindsay cares if she has a career or not at this point.
Maybe she has enough in the bank to not have to worry about money for quite a few years.
Instead of drug rehab, maybe ex-child stars like Lindsay, Britney etc should be sent to Life rehab to show them how normal people live and give them some grounding in day to day life.
Where the focus isn't so much on getting them off booze/drugs but refocusing them on other worthwhile things to do with their lives like helping the homeless, working in soup kitchen or training in things like parenting skills. It seems although their parents may have let them down that unless someone else teaches them these life skills they will just struggle through life and keep turning to drugs/booze when they fail.

No, but it's good the Execs are saying it publicly. Hopefully it'll be a slap in the face for her.
