So many young people live directionless, debaucherous, destructive, reckless lives, with no real goals/direction or sense of purpose in life & no values.
|
and Jebaldwin will show them how to lead fundamentalist, oppressed, rigid and dull lives, who's only goal is to see unthinking christofascist theocracy spread the values of intolerance and closemindedness.
I'll take the drugs.

At the very least, Stephen Baldwin can be commended for having kept even one young person from living a destructive drug-filled life.--And it appears that he's actually helped MANY young people avoid that kind of life. So, i give Baldwin kudos for that.

This is exactly what I meant. Thank you for putting it so eloquently.
I'd rather have kids get excited about Jesus than chrystal meth. But that's just me.

I fail to see the difference between a destructive, drug fuelles life and a destructive, hate-filled life.

Meh. I don't suspect all those thousands of kids are gonna turn into Krazy Khristians. Stevie B.'s not that good a Svengali. Sure, maybe some of them will, but not all. Most of them will probably just be good little kids that don't act like debaucherous assholes but instead go to church (no harm there) and do volunteer work.

*sticks fingers in ears* Lalalalala, I can't heeeeeear you!!!
Actually, though, I'd like to know exactly what he's saying to these kids. Cuz if it's all "Jesus loves you! Be like him!" then that's fine. But if he's spreading any of that fundamentalist fear of God and hate the fags crap, then, yeah, I got a little problem with ole Stevie. Like I said, A+ for effort, C- for execution.

I agree completely, WH. From what i read, the gist of what i understood is that Baldwin (even though he's a wacko) has, at the very core of what he's doing, is that he's giving kids/young adults a purpose/direction in life OTHER than drugs & debauchery. Like you said, if he's teaching these kids to be like Jesus (i.e. peace-loving, fullfilled people), then, IMO, GREAT! But, like you said, IF he's teaching them to, as you say, "hate fags" & horrible negative stuff like that, then that would absolutely NOT be a positive thing and would change my opinion of Baldwin's work. But like you said in another post, if he's helping even one person to stay away from Crystal Meth (and any other harmful drugs), then i commend him at the very least for that feat. That alone (keeping young people away from drugs) is an admirable thing. And if he's doing even more positive work in addition to that, then i commend him even more. But if he's preaching negative anti-gay (for example) stuff, then that would absolutely change my opinion of him & his work. But overall, BASED ON WHAT I KNOW AT THIS POINT, i commend Baldwin for at least helping some young people to apparently avoid a life of drugs & destructive behavior.

Why of COURSE they were Grimmlok! These children were frequenting a SKATE PARK so it stands to reason that their whole existance revolves around getting 'pilled up' and destroying everything in their wake. Don't you know ANYTHING about young hoodlums? It's a damn good job that nice Mr Baldwin has set about saving their souls right away because otherwise ALL those poor kids would have passed away before the year is out - mark my words. I do wish that Saint Steven would visit British shores to help correct the evils of our dear chavs...

Since 9/11, it says. 9/11 changed the world and apparently a Baldwin.

Well I know that it sometimes happens when people pull a head trip on drunks or druggies. The concerned interveners hope that this will straighten them out, since such habits are 'against the Bible'. "They have to do what we want, if we can put the right idea into their heads." As we've seen recently, with Mr. Gibson, it usually doesn't work, and leads to other kinds of mischief as well.

I don't know if they were or were not, but that doesn't matter. If I may offer a weak analogy: it's like putting on a life jacket before you get on a jetski. The purpose of the lifejacket is to keep you from drowning.
