This is sad. This family lost their sister, mother, aunt, or daughter because someone wasn't paying attention for whatever reason.

I'm glad cell phones are banned in my state. It's hard enough to concentrate without an added distraction. Yet I still see them talking on it everyday.
Into the sunrise. The sunset is sad to me….it only means the night is coming.

I live outside D.C and it can get very busy on our highways. I have seen crazy things while driving them. People reading (seriously like 2 times) laying back so far you would think they are asleep, playing with small children on their laps...people out there are so fu**ing stupid sometimes. As far as Brandy, who knows what really caused it, though it is obvious she was not paying attention.

I just noticed that this happened a MONTH ago, and basically no one's covering it.

Yeah they are banned but people still talk on them all the time, I come from NY same rules apply here. Those headset things are only like $20 or so, you would think they would just get it and save the ticket worth hundreds.

If she caused the chain reaction (for whatever reason) SHE should be held accountable. Period.

And I have a funny feeling that she will make this go away as quietly and quickly as possible.

If you go to you tube and in the search box type Brandy Punk'd, you'll see the video. I don't see what you mean though.

Accidents do happen. If she wasn't doing anything to cause this to happen that she shouldn't have been (i.e. talking on phone, under influence, etc) I feel bad for her. I can't even imagine taking someone's life accidentally and having to live with it. Even if she doesn't get into too much trouble with the law I wouldn't be shocked if she ended up paying through the nose, for the reason one poster gave that everyone is sue happy these days and seeking retribution of sorts. And I can't think of many in such a situation who would be able to resist the smell of celeb bank.

I wonder how this has been kept quiet for the past month?

    Some more details:
Brandy involved in fatal accident, report says

Singer hit car on L.A. freeway in Dec.; chain reaction killed driver, TMZ says

R&B singer Brandy reportedly hadn't noticed that cars ahead of her had slowed.

R&B star Brandy was involved in a fatal car accident last month in Los Angeles, TMZ has reported.

“She wishes to publicly express her condolences to the family of the deceased,” said a statement released by publicist Courtney Barnes. “Brandy asks that you respect the privacy of everyone involved at this time.”

The singer, who was uninjured, was not arrested and there is no evidence drugs or alcohol were involved, TMZ said.

Brandy was driving her Land Rover on a freeway Dec. 30 and did not notice that cars ahead of her had slowed, law enforcement sources said. She reportedly struck a Toyota, causing a chain reaction involving at least two other cars that left the Toyota driver dead.

The driver, Awatef Aboudihaj, was taken to the hospital and died the next day, TMZ said. Aboudihaj, 38, was married and had one child.
Police reportedly are conducting an investigation of the cars involved to determine if there was a malfunction.

Brandy's “Moesha” co-star, Lamont Bentley, was killed in January 2005 when his car plunged off a freeway in Southern California.

I understand your point, but I have to respectfully disagree... she was doing something, it's called not paying attention and not driving defensively. There are so many awful accidents because people tail gate and don't pay attention. Like I mentioned before, I think just knowing you killed an innocent person is enough torture, but she was reckless IMO.

Anytime you rearend someone (at least in my state) you are 100% responsible - then if it causes a chain reaction, each car files claim against the person that hit them and then it goes all the way back to the first person (which is Brandy in this case).

According to TMZ, there is a witness who says she admitted to being at fault when the accident happened, and almost caused more accidents when she walked in front of other traffic:
