Good points in the posts above (previous page). I can remember growing up in Arkansas when Clinton was governor. HRC rubbed my mom and all of her friends the wrong way. I know now that it had a lot to do with the fact that she was not a stereotypically Southern woman or just a typical woman, for that matter. I think she makes men nervous because she challenges them.
KrisNine, I absolutely agree with you as well, especially on the point of the "images" or connotations that come with the terms conservative or liberal. In our current social atmosphere, tag the label Christian on yourself and, if you are also conservative and the wrongdoing doesn't involve bjs in the Oval Office, you can do no wrong. It is as if being Christian buys you a free ticket. Where is our separation of church and state? They are hand-in-hand right now.
I mean really---look back at what Clinton was attacked for and I think it absolutely pales in comparison to the egregious misdoings by the current administration. Where is the anger? Where are the investigations that dominate the media like they did in the Clinton era?
Bush flings the term terrorism around and has successfully manipulated the American public. I mean, for chrissakes, there are POLLS being done about whether or not America opens itself up to more attacks if a Democrat is elected. While the majority responded negatively, if I recall there was something like 38% who said responded that we would be more vulnerable. WTF?!! These idiots get to vote?!!!

^^^I think one of the reasons why you don't see the same kind of investigations with Bush that Clinton had is because many of these media conglomerates are owned by people who support Bush or the Republican party. And Bush looks out for the wealthy, so they aren't going to bite the hand that's helping to keep them rich.
And I think Bush is just milking 9/11 for all it's worth. That's the reason why he loves to throw the word terrorism around. Both he and his administration have been using a fear campaign to try and keep the American people in line. But I love the fact that Republicans act as if they are the only ones that can protect the country. Of course they forget that when we got attack on 9/11 we had a Republican president (Bush), a Republican-controlled Congress, and a Republican mayor in New York (Gulliani).
Not to mention, the same Republican president (Bush) has failed to track down Osama Bin Laden, the man who attacked us. But yet the Republicans like Hasslebeck and Fox News like to criticize Bill Clinton for not having 'done enough' to track down Osama prior to 9/11.

Erm, Clinton was TRYING but the Republican congress called him a warmonger and refused to allow him to do it.

^^Yeah, I know Clinton was trying, and the Republicans were the ones getting in his way. Just like the Republicans were the ones IGNORING all of the warnings prior to 9/11. But, as usual, the Republicans forget all of that and make Clinton and the Dems the scapegoats.

But they came into this country and planned it under Clinton..
so it makes us all responsible.

Those are two (and I use these terms verrrrrry loosely) actors (and a comedian) that were so embraced for their views and intelligence, they were practically put on the payroll at Faux News. Actually, they may have been.
So much for wanting actors to keep their mouths shut.

I totally agree. Why do conservatives want actors, etc. to shut up unless they are spouting the party line. They'll say they have no right to talk out as they are just actors. Sorry but I really thought that was one of the rights we are fighting for, the ability to say what we want.

And let's not forget that during the bulk of Clinton's 2 terms we had a Republican-controlled Congress. But even Bill Clinton admits that there were things he could have done better. But that's not the point. The point was that Bush and the Republicans have tried to lay the entire mess on Clinton's doorstep, as if they have no responsibility.
Which is especially weak when you consider the fact that Bush hasn't even bothered to track down Osama, but instead chose to use our military to invade a country that didn't attack us. And then to make matters worse, he didn't hold Saudi Arabia accountable, even though most of the hijackers were Saudi's, and then he tried to hand over our port security to the United Arab Emirates, who funneled some of the money that financed 9/11. So, in the grand scheme of things, the Republicans are in no position to cast stones at Clinton or the Dems.

Did everyone see when Alicia Silverstone dissed Lis after her and Rosie's big fight? That has to be one of the best moments in t.v. history!

ouch! What happened after that? Did she ignore all of her questions as well?

No offense, but what is it with you Americans and this boring show with a bunch of old hags who behave like teenagers? You can't get enough of it. Just thinking of them puts me to sleep.

Heeheee. I never watched it before Rosie for that very reason. I can not stand Baba Wawa. But when Rosie came on, it could be pretty interesting. I'm back to being a non-viewer now that she's gone.

Well, remember when Bush was first elected Prez, and all the women in this country went into a mass celebration of Laura's superiority over ugly hairy-legged Hillary?
Laura was seen as the epitome of class, dignity and femininity. Most women in this country were thrilled to have a Real Lady back in the White House, someone who left everything to the People Who Knew Best: the Men. Someone whose pet issues were really safe and simple ones like literacy on which there is broad consensus, and kept away from thorny and complicated ones like healthcare reform, ala Hillary.
I maintain that Rosie had to leave because she made a lot of women very very uncomfortable.
Women in the heartland are okay with a Bill O'Reilly or a Rush Limbaugh being a pompous loudmouth, because they are conservative men. Not a liberal lesbian woman. Rosie is an annoying aggressive noisy windbag, but a man with all those traits, along with being conservative of course, would not only be on the air, but would have his own show where he'd get paid millions and millions of dollars. And admired by millions of women.
