HIGHLY UNLIKELY couple, IMHO. And, as i babble about below, there isn't even any evidence to back up Us Weekly's lame claim that there is something going on between these two anyway.

It's rather pathetic & lame how the gossip rags are OF COURSE jumping at the opportunity to "link" Reese to the first *likely candidate* of a man that comes along.

I am just blown away by this unbelieveably titilating headline-worthy news!!! I mean, WOW!, Jake actually stopped by Reese's trailer (!!!), and they--(oh-my-gosh-this-is-so-interesting!!!!)--did the unbelievably sexy & groundbreaking act of laughing & talking??!!!??!!! Holy cow, that's fascinating news!!!! There MUST be a hot-n-heavy hook-up going on, with THAT kind of hardcore action going on!

(End of sarcasm.) Anyway, if THAT is all they have to go on, on which to base their statement that "Reese Witherspoon is getting close with handsome star Jake Gyllenhaal" and that she has "moved on" from her divorce, with Jake, then the writers of Us Weekly need to rethink their definitions of the words/phrases "close" and "moved on".

I think we're over-analyzing here, I'm pretty sure it's bullshit but I am curious as to what Reese has done to become the Ice Queen??? I see pictures of her with her kiddos and she doesn't seem cold at all.... perhaps sometimes cold to the press, but who can blame her? Every ounce the woman gained, she was pregnant, her husband was cheating on her......

I think Ryan Philippe is icier than her. I've hardly ever seen him smile. Even when he was with Reese, he always put on the 'i'm miserable' face.

One of the people at Life and Style Magazine said that he always cheated on the set of his movies, but Reese put up with it as long as he did not bring it home. And that she put up with alot of shit from him. This time he brought it home so he got dumped.. Think he is an asshole. I think he was also really jealous that she is such a big movie star.

^ I also think he is icier than her.

Personally, I think they just got married much too young. They grew to want different things and different paths. It happens very often to young couples. I am sure both have thought they should have waited.

They did make a good go of it; lasting longer than most of the hollywood couples that tie the knot.

Absolutely nothing in that article suggests that they are "involved". So, he stopped by her trailer, and they talked and laughed? Well, I must be screwing all my customers and several strangers I saw at Wal Mart earlier....they are in a movie together, are they supposed to not talk and laugh?

^^I totally agree Icepik. I think (obviously) they got married because he (i'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it was accidental) got her pregnant. She was like 7 months pregnant when they got married. And i agree, they probably grew majorly apart. People change bigtime from age 22 to age 30. Even before the split, maybe a couple months ago or so, i was reading an interview with Ryan in Rolling Stone Magazine. The interviewer asked him, "Where do you see yourself in 10 years?" (or maybe it was 20 years; not sure)....His reply was, "Living down in the Caribbean, smoking weed, living off the land, and just taking it easy." (or something--very closely--to that effect) I thought that sounded like a very SELFISH reply coming from a man with 2 kids & a wife, since there was NO mention of them in his 10-year "Life Plan".... And Reese Witherspoon (who seems very high-maintenance & very uptight, to me) seems like about the very LAST person on earth who i could picture living a super-laidback natural hippie-ish existence living "off the land", "smoking weed", and "just relaxing" down in the Caribbean, far away from Hollywood & her $20 million-per-picture super-ambitious movie career & her Type A Movie Productions company that she owns. I (and probably anyone who read that article) saw their split coming a mile away.

And i agree with the people who said Ryan seems "icey"....BIGTIME. Dude always looks majorly unhappy & like he just sucked on a lemon. And he's always seemed like a grumpy asshole to me. Personally, i don't like either of them (not that that's relevant), and i think they are just REALLY different from each other & therefore weren't giving each other what each needed to be happy & therefore the relationship just didn't work out.

I don't think Reese is icy. I think she is just all business and very devoted to her family, so she doesn't let people push her around and she doesn't screw around with her coworkers and make sure she's always seen at the trendiest spots to start rumors and get attention. I think because she doesn't really make an effort to get out there and show her fun side and her personal life to the paparazzi more often, people assume that she's this cold, anti social bitch. In every interview I've read with her, she comes across as very down to earth, and the only person I know of who has ever had anything bad to say about her was Kevin Smith, who also showers JLo with praise for her "talent" and personality, so his opinion of people really doesn't mean much to me.

I also agree that Ryan seems like a total butthead. I think he probably considered himself to be this stunningly attractive and talented star, and is shocked and angry that he never really advanced past the "teen heartthrob" roles, which he's now too old to play, while Reese became an A-Lister. He has always seemed extremely jealous to me.
