Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Paris Hilton's medical condition was purely psychological and that she was in peril of having a nervous breakdown, and that's why she was released early this morning.
Psychiatrist Charles Sophy visited Hilton in jail yesterday and the day before. We're told after Sophy's visit yesterday, word was passed to the Sheriff that Hilton's mental state was fragile and she was at risk.
The reason for releasing her had nothing to do with a rash or other physical issues. It was purely in her head.
Last month, on the eve of a trial in which Hilton was accused of slandering socialite Zeta Graph, Dr. Sophy told the judge that Hilton was "emotionally distraught and traumatized" over her jail sentence, which prevented her from participating in a meaningful defense. That trial was put on hold until August.

Oh my gawd!! Any normal person that is going to jail is going to have a bit of a mental breakdown. It's JAIL for fuck's sake, not a vacation. The whole purpose of jail is to punish her for her violation. What a crybaby. Nasty bitch.

Someone already said it and I agree: this only reinforces Paris' belief that she's better than everyone else and deserves special treatment. Any sympathy I felt for her (MTV jokes) is gone! I was hoping she'd take her punishment and possibly come out of jail a better person. I think people would've been more "forgiving" of her if she'd served her time. Sophia Loren did for tax evasion, Lil Kim for lying under oath. Now people will despise Paris even more.
people have died in prison on hunger strike. since when do they let you out of jail because you won't eat?

A number of posters have said that Lil Kim served a year for lying under oath (perjury?); didn't Paris Hilton do this? When she stated that she "didn't know" she was banned even though she'd signed the citation from the police? So how come she didn't get this added to her sentence?

This news frustrates me beyond belief. As many of you have said, jail is not meant to be relaxing... I'm sure that the nerves of many inmates are fried. I don't hear of too many of them getting sent home to their mansions. You can leave an e-mail message for the Sheriff at this link:
