I have a problem with her holier than thou attitude,and selfishness during a supposedly selfless act (Im sure for all of her resemblance to j-z....(wtf) she will still use any "charitable donation" as a tax dodge - Or maybe she wont, and really do something thoughtful and philanthropic, while showing genuine class and humility ).

I have not said that she was a criminal - just hypocritical.

I could careless if she is a media whore..who cares..this woman does more for me..than a handful of us do in a lifetime..I do not care for her, but hey she is helping those in need..I could not care if she donated $100, she is helping someone...people always want something to complain about...oh well she is a media whore..who gives a shit..if she wants to be one, she has every right to be one, she is HELPING someone, why is that so wrong..

Why don't people complain about the Queen of England and tell her to use her money to help the poor? Sure, the Queen of England may have a charity program but I DOUBT she is directly involved like Oprah is. Why don't people get off Oprah's back. She is helping people using her money for good. Go after Warren Buffett or any of those other gazillionaires and leave Oprah alone.

EVERY rich person who gives to charity uses it as a tax dodge. This is common sense. Bill Gates, Ted Turner, the list is endless. A lot of people who aren't rich by their standards do it, too. I know people who have done it, I have done it myself although in a much smaller sense. Government does this to encourage giving to charity (and to get out of paying for things) and I think it's a good thing on the whole.

Does that make the good that the money does any less valuable? I've never understood this argument. Not that long ago, people used to tithe 10 per cent of their income to various churches/charities and they ALL received a tax deduction depending on the amount. Should we despise them, too? I just don't understand this argument.

Im going to repeat myself, simply because it seems that individuals are choosing not to actually read posts, but rather ATTEmPT to read b/w the lines.

Even one or two word sentences, explaining my point of view cant be understood by a vocal minority. I believe one may be a teacher also, which I find particularly frightening, and a little sad. Comprehension is an integral part in the developmental process. Lets not forget that.

So for those that still dont get it (bangs head against the fucking wall)

1. I dont like Oprah Winfrey (so shoot me)
2. I dont like that she used a charitable event to further her own agenda
3. I dont like that she has used religion as a soapbox to emphasize her profile.
4. I believe she has taken credit for herself, when she could have spread it among all of those involved
5. There has never been an occasion that she has been benevolent whithout a camera in front of her recording her every move.
6. I hate that she has become a latter day missionary in africa. (the amount of damage they caused to the continent is incalculable)
7. I hate that so many people cant see through a facade that is crumbling. She holds the spoon of whatever she is selling, and so many people go back for seconds.
8. I dont like that her self styled psudo psychobable with religion, sells to so many people.
9. I dont like that so many brain washed lovers try to quash the opinion of someone that isnt interested in her crap.
10. I really hate that I will never get back the time I have spent posting on that woman.

Pacific breeze.... please dont be presumptuous. Im talking about Oprah.... dont try to paint me with that brush. I donate time and money, and respect those other actual philanthropists. If you dont understand an arguement of your own making, I personally cant help you.

Mrs Masters, I chose to comment on a person in the public eye making more money from her charitable actions than those "donations themselves". My opinion are posted by me and have never reflected others (although others have the same opinion).You seem to have taken up pacific breeze's call to arms. I only hate Oprah, yes for my own selfish reasons maybe, but Im entitled to call as I see fit. - Hardly beyond low, unless Im not entitled to my opinion, unless it agrees with yours, that I find pretty low my self

1. This is a thread about Oprah, why would we talk about the Queen or Warren Buffet?

2. The Queen of England is patron to 620 charities and the fact that people are not as well aware of her charity work as Oprah supports Soth's point completely about self-publicising.

BUT I personally don't feel any anger towards her for helping the people as long as someone gets helped and no-one gets hurt but she does seem to do all her charitable work in front of the cameras. I mean when she opened that school in Africa it was on the news HERE. Her show is on itv2 at 11 - hardly anyone watches her show here and yet there was so much publicity that it was over here in England.
