Ok!'s Empty Promises?

Is OK! Magazine blowing a bunch of steam up our asses? They said that they would publish "exclusive" pictures of Britney along with a heartbreaking article. Well, according to Jossip it ain't so. They got this tip from an insider.

OK! has no Britney exclsuive [sic] photos and the interview’s bad…no real revelations. Sarah Ivens is trying to make herself look good in front of her bosses as her ass is on the line because sales are poor. Richard Desmond’s pumping millions into it but news stand sales struggle to get above 400,000. No one wants to advertise in the magazine. He’s losing patience with Ivens. She’s planning her exit strategy by putting out stories about herself.

I spoke with someone who claims they have seen the Britney issue. Allegedly there are no exclusive pictures. They claim there is only one picture of her wearing a bra and undies in the water. The rest are paparazzi shots that we've already seen. They also claim that there isn't one direct quote from Britney and that all the "revelations" are stories we've already heard.

The issue hits stands this Friday. I'm a glutton for punishment, so I'm still going to buy this shit in hopes that OK! will put at least one god awful picture of Brit. I just need ONE to make my month!

Does anyone think that maybe she is just putting this crazy act on for attention and publicity? I mean, she is certainly one of the most sought after celebrities, and everyone is anxious to watch her "meltdown". I sometimes think that she is just stupid enough to believe that she is pulling off a good publicity stunt by acting like this.
Maybe she really is in control. What else is left for her anyway? She can't sing, dance or act; why not get everyone's attention by hosting your own I'm Going Fucking Insane party?

I just read those scanned pages too. wtf? All it did was say everything that we already knew.

I thought the article was really in poor taste. I can understand them wanting to call Britney out on her behavior, but reading this article made me really dislike OK. The entire time they praised themselves and made cheap, tacky references to money and their own skills and talent while tattling on Britney. This article was about 50% name dropping, 45% information that we already knew, 5% details expanding on what we already knew, 0% "revelation." There was absolutely nothing shocking about it.

I felt like the cheapest part was their insinuation that she stole things from the photo shoot. Most big stars are used to taking whatever they want from photo shoots, and it's generally understood that will be the case. I wouldn't be surprised at all if one of the staff members, who they've already told us were bending over backwards to make Britney happy, told her she could keep the clothes before turning around and implying that she stole them when the interview didn't go as planned.

I used to be a Britney fan, but as of recently I'm disgusted by her behavior. However, I feel that by publishing this article OK is painting themselves in a bad light just as much as they are Britney. She's clearly mentally ill, and their snarky exploitation of her problems, followed by a snide "when you're REALLY ready to talk, we'll listen," just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

The entire time I was reading the article, I felt like it was a piece appearing in the gossip column of a middle school newspaper, written by the loser who has just caught the most popular girl in school doing something bad and can't wait to tattle on her, exaggerating every detail, for their 15 minutes of fame... and totally unaware that while they're slapping themselves on the back with joy, everyone else is rolling their eyes.

What could the legal reasons possibly be?
