What was HER motivation to marry him and STAY married for TEN YEARS if the gossip is true??

We know his reasons - at least, people assume - were because he needs a beard.

Okay, those were his reasons - what were HERS??? IF she is a "normal" woman (and I'm not convinced of THAT), why on EARTH would she stay married to someone who needs a beard for ten years? To me, that is much stranger than what he alledgedly did! At least he had a REASON - a crappy one, but a reason. What was hers???
Money? Career?

I think you hit the nail on the head - she does seem very cold-blooded. I always got that impression of her, especially when she was out with Tom and he was all over her and she just sort of stared off into space, not even looking at him.

I think she just did what she had to do to further her career, and that was to get recognized as Tom's wife.

Considering he was all over her merely for show and not because he loved her and was attracted to her, how should we have expected her to look?

Just because someone behaves with a bit of decorum in public doesn't mean they are cold-blooded, it might just be that they are reserved. I myself am very aloof to people I don't know, but I am also very warm and affectionate behind closed doors with my family.

Well if she was indeed in some kind of contract with him, I would expect to see her at the very least look at him with some kind of love in her eyes. She was getting something out of it.

I do see your point, though, about PDA's. I also am very reserved in public but totally different in private. But everyone seems to think she had some kind of agreement with him. Just saying ...
