) I just think wtf? what was he thinking getting involved with a 19 year old! No matter whether she is a naive fool or a dirty little scheming slut, there is absolutely no excuse for him to go after a 19 year old!(Or anyone when you are already committed to someone else for that matter). It is not like he got 'caught up in the moment"-this was not some one time thing. This was a long term, deliberate affair a 47 year old man was carrying on with a 19 year old! And he is the one who has the marital obligations and committment, not her. He is either a complete and utter scumbag asshole or is stupid beyond belief, or(most likely)both. At least she can fall back on youth as a reason for her indiscretion..wtf is his excuse?

Ah Jay Leno had fun with this last night. Quoting her interview about getting gifts, etc, then exclaimed "That is a whore". What seems to be the majority of thinking around here.

Now I'm not making excuses for the girl because I agree with the whole thing that she knew what she was doing. However, at 19, you don't have the judgement and conscience that an older person does. Everyone has done stupid $hit as a teenager, you have the rights and body of an adult, but it takes years to develop the mature judgement and conscience. Since she wasn't married with kids she couldn't picture herself in the position that Christie is in right now. She was loving the attention and lavish gifts but I honestly don't think she took the job with the deliberate idea of breaking up this family. But she did, and that's the bottom line. Tough, tough lesson for her, and devestating for not only Christie's family, but Diana's family too.

I would probably feel the same if it were my daughter. You can raise your kids to the best of your ability, and still be surprised & disapproving of some of their choices. I remember being a teenage girl, and I have one now. I sometimes think there's nothing stupider in the world than a teenage girl. They just think they know everything, and it's so clear that they have NO CLUE about the nature of people & the world. I thought I knew everything, and it burned me up when my parents tried to tell me that I shouldn't trust someone. They were ALWAYS right.

I'd have more sympathy if the family shut up already and shunned the spotlight. They claim "This has been very hard for us, to be kind of thrown in the limelight," and yet they appear to be courting the publicity. Sure the media is after them, but they have every right to say 'no' if they don't like it.

Unfortunately this is just another set of naive parents who think their unworldly daughter is pure, sweet and innocent.

As I've said all along - this girl knew exactly what she was doing. Her father had already warned her once that she was playing with fire and she - an adult - made the choice to go back to Peter a second time.

As for Peter, he might as well leave town. He'll never recover.

Are you suggesting that $50 an hour is a typical salary in the Hamptons?

If so that's not true at all.

The cost of living is high and fairly equal to NYC, real estate is over the top - you can buy a 2br starter house for $500k and still need to sink money into it, the gas is the most expensive on the Island especially in summer and over the weekend but the salaries when working for someone do not reflect the same inflated price that everything else does.

The ARCHITECTS that work for Cook would be the only employees that could possibly command $104k a year salary.

If you meant a $50 an hour HO - then well, I would have to agree.

And as for the Hamptons being TACKY - the only tacky part of the Hamptons are the NYC, bridge and tunnel lookin' to be seen, laid and get hitched summer people, weekenders, drunks, and wanna be wealthy socialite people that make the Hamptons tacky and those very same people take tacky where ever they travel but somehow think they magically become one of the "special people" when they pass the Shinnecock canal.

And then there are the guys from New Jersey with their Ferraris and the trim they picked up for the weekend.

As for the mega wealthy - you don't even see them unless they're dining out or at a fundraiser - and why would you? Their compounds have anything and everything right there, no reason for them to leave home - the staff will fetch what they need and the rest will be delivered.

I would love to talk to Cook's bookkeeper - I bet they would have a story to tell.

But I disgress.......

this man did not tell her he loved her, did not say he was going to leave his wife, ect as is the classic manipulated girl case....what was obviously discussed was money, cars ect...so imo she's a ho... she saw photos of his family, his kids all around his office and still slept with him with no regard for his family..went on tv and gave interviews knowing that his wife and children would see and hurt them more....this girl is a piece of shit....he is too but she is no innocent... she's disgusting..... she was even cheating on her bf with cook

I'm sorry, this girl does not strike me as being naive at all. She is sure savvy enough to get her face and her side of the story on tv as fast as possible. If I were really naive and ashamed of what I did, I would lay low for as long as possible before I started giving interviews. She almosts seems proud when she's talking about her relationship with this guy. I think she got off on the fact that Christie Brinkley's husband was choosing to sleep with her over his supermodel wife.
