I am thrilled they are getting together so the kids can grow up knowing each other. Eddie planned to have a child with Mel, according to her, and then dumped her in a horribly public way and defamed her. She has proven he is a liar. The child in entitled to child support. There are many of us who are able to support ourselves and our children just fine but are still awarded child support because both parents are legally responsible for the wellbeing of the children they create. I am blessed to be in a position where I can bank all the child support for my daughter to have in the future. Just because I can afford to pay all our expenses does not mean her father shouldn't have to contribute too. The child support is to cover living expenses for the child - a roof over their head, clothes, food, school supplies, childcare, etc. It is not about being a weak woman who needs a man to take care of them. It is about making sure that both parents are responsible for their children.

^ Yeah, I understand that. I agree he needs to pay child supports but why do these two women have to meet to make sure he does that? They don't, they are clearly meeting so they can bash and find a way to make his life a living hell.....you know to make herself feel better, which has nothing at all to do with the child.

Not necessarily true. Nicole has her agreement worked out and she left him. I think they younger kids probably wanted to know their sibling and since they know it won't be done through Daddy their gracious Mom has stepped to the plate. I would do whatever I needed to make sure my child got to be in their half siblings life if her father didn't. He has 2 sons from a previous marriage and they are important to my daughter.

Well, I disagree, I doubt those children are old enough to really care if they meet this newborn sibling or not, but we can agree to disagree.

Some of his kids are teenagers and old enough to see all of this played on on TV and hear about it at school. His 5 kids with Nicole are 18, 15, 13, 8 and 5 years old.

^ I wonder why they didn't go to the Ivy for lunch with them then?
You would think if they were just meeting for the children to get to know each other they would have done it in a much less public place. You know the Ivy is CRAWLING with photographers. This is why I can't seem to believe they are doing this just as a meeting for the children. They only had two children present. They are tramps that just want to hang this man.

There were pics awhile back of Mel walking with Eddie's little girl, same one in the pic above, along the beach while on vacation. Maybe they've formed a bond?

I think Nicole and Mel are acting quite mature in getting together with the children. All the siblings have the right to know one another, whether it's Eddie or Nicole that brings them together, should make no difference. It's about the kids.

^ That's cool, but are the kids at this meeting? I can't seem to see them in any of the pictures. All I see is a newborn that can't grasp anything and a little girl that's not really old enough to understand "that's your sister and the meaning behind that". If all the kids, or even some of them were there I might could agree with you girls but from these pictures I just can't.

But requesting sole custody plus child support is shady: you can't say you don't want the dad involved in the kid's life but at the same time want his money. It's not like she needs the money to live like his ex-wife does. If you're going to battle over anything battle over visitation, not money. Force him to see the kid.
There is no way I would force a man to see my child. If he didn't care enough to see his child on his own, fuck him. If that is what kind of man and role model he would be-better off without him. A child can have lots of male role models without the father-granddads, uncles, cousins, male friends of the family-it is possible

Exactly! So the older half-siblings meet this strange baby who was the result of 3 months' or so screwing with Eddie and they're supposed to have these feelings for each other?

She could probably make them spend time with ANY kid and, as the years pass, they'll be connected but not because they share the same father who's not bothering with them.

If Eddie and Mel B actually PLANNED to have a kid within weeks of meeting they must both be morons....

A couple of things strike me about this.
    * No-one knows why they met (unless we have the waitress/waiter from the Ivy on here)
*Nicole (the ex wife) nor Mel have trashed Eddie in public, Mel said that she needed to have a relationship with him for her daughter.... indicating that they might be mature people?
    * No-one has suggested that maybe Nicole wanted to meet the baby?
    * How many people in LA does Mel actually know? I'd put money on them mostly being Eddie's friends.....

Why in this day and age, do two women that have a common man in their history when meeting have to be presumed to be talking about him.... I'm an sure that these women found much more interesting topics of comversations than Eddie Murphy!

So they went to the Ivy and sat in the window. A window which apparently had a clear view for the paps. How nice of both of them.

^ because that's how most women work even when dealing with a broke man.

If they just wanted to met, they could have done that at a house or either a more private place. EVERYONE knows The Ivy is the spot to be seen if you want your name in the paper.

And I think Mel did trash Eddie, remember she said her new man was BIGGER than Eddie.
