Uhhh since when is being "fatherly" a good quality for a potential SON in law? Unless he meant he would be a good father figurue toward their future children, which I doubt.

Wow what BIZARRE things for Lionel to say.   I personally get the impression from Lionel that he does try, in his own way, to be a decent father to Nicole....But he just comes out with some WACKY statements sometimes! (And his apparent blind-eye towards her anorexia and/or drug addiction has been rather odd & troublesome too.)
