I don't understand these pro ana sites. From what I know of the disease, it's not something you do to be part of a group or to emulate some body type. It's your way of gaining control of your life. Plus, most of these girls go to huge lengths to keep their disease from others. This whole thing about ana websites and bracelets makes no sense to me at all.

^the sites are so they can all compare their rib cages and collar bones..and encourage each other to lose more weight....sick isnt it? that xanga site (like an online diary for the world to read)..used to have a lot of pro ana groups..just being curious i would read some...its so sad..they all share pics of their ribs and collarbones and compare calorie counts for the day and then give advice on how to lose more

there was a thing on the radio about her this morning that she says all the pictures of her are photo shopped and that she doesnt really look that thin..does she seriously think people are going to believe that??

Um, doctors cant look at you and say, 'um, anorexic or no. Its a psychological thing that requires the sufferer to firstly ADMIT that they have a problem. I am naturally very thin, but I can tell you right now, theres no way Nicole lost THAT much weight from stress. NO WAY.

There was a VERY interesting article in last weekend's The Australian newspaper about LA women and their quest to be stick thin size 000. Nicole Richie is apparently the 'ideal' body for many of them and they have an army of personal trainers and quack doctors aka 'nutritionists' who bully, cajole and nag their clients to exercise more and eat less. Women phone up their PTs in tears because they succumbed to temptation and had a mouthful of pasta or a slice of bread and these 'professionals' rip them a new one about how 'weak, pathetic, gross and FAT' they are for daring to eat carbohydrates instead of an eggwhite and spinach omlette 3 times a day.

Kind of like how the emotards made depression cool, anorexia is super trendy now. Or at least being Nicole's size is. There are so many girls willing to become anorexic to look like that.

The fact both him and Nicole keep claim she's not anorexic doesn't matter for a bit. She looks like a walking skeleton and I don't care if she does that on purpose or if she just forgets to eat or if it's stress-related! She's malnutrition! Feed her instead of telling excuses.

I suppose a doctor could run blood work to see if she has vitamin or nutrient deficiencies, check her electrolytes, her blood-glucose levels, things like that. He could probably tell if she's actually taking in food, if she's on drugs, if she's essentially overdosing on water and/or caffeine to curb her hunger, check her teeth and esophagus to see if she's throwing up, etc.

The question is did he actually do any of these things? I'm guessing he looked at her, weighed her, and then paid the poor little rich folks some basic lip service. If they actually even saw a doctor, that is.
