I've seen psych patients who drink water excessively to get high. I don't really understand it, but something about electrolytes. It is dangerous, though, and they have to be stopped. They will scream and fight and do anything to get to a water fountain. One guy was strapped down for hours, and he kept wailing "I'm thirsty, I'm thirsty, I'm sooooooooo thirsty, help me" etc. It was very pitiful. Anyway, yeah, drinking too much water apparently is dangerous.

I'm sure Professor SVZ could explain it.

Well I have some residual heart damage from those stupid eating disorder days..also my body has a hard time regulating temperature. I read up on it and I guess overheating is a big problem. No way then that I would ever try this. Would never try meth, cocaine, crack cocaine, or any stimulant-hate them. Even poppers suck! too afraid of opiates..like them too much. I guess I will just have to stick to my alcohol. I bought nearly a gallon worth of wine an hour or so ago...it was on sale..lol

^ X and speed can cause depressions, as well; sometimes chronic ones. It fucks with the brain, literally and in the long term - burn too many synapses and you'll never be the same again. I think that aspect is another effective turn-off.

Never have and never will try X, meth, coke or heroin. They all scare the fuck out of me, especially meth...all of those chemicals.

You only get depression and synapse burnout from X if you do massive amounts of it for 20 years, every weekend.

Secondly, people try drugs out of curiosity.. the same way people try beer, or wine or mixed drinks or any other experience. Some people can do it in moderation and enjoy them without ill effect, and some people can't. Same with everything.

Still, I wouldn't risk the whole heroin/crack thing.. it's too dangerous from a physiological standpoint

That's how most addicts are born. People think they are strong enough to use "recreationally" or just at parties and the next thing you know you are a Lindsay Lohan shooting between your toes. That's a real crap shoot. A lot of this is so individual because it depends on your particular brain chemistry. That's why everyone has a different drug of choice based on how their brains react and what feels good to them.

^^Sure it's a crap shoot. But lots of people try drugs they don't end up addicted to. I used to be one of them. Now I just love fine wine...it's waaay more expensive than most drugs.

Some marathon runners have died this way (though this is waaaay back then) you basically dilute your body out of it's electrolytes because you end up peeing them out. Your muscles aren't able to function anymore and eventually your heart stops.

That's how ALL addicts are born if you really think about it. I doubt any of them (and yes, I know a couple) wake up one day and say "WTF, nothing better to do, I'll become an addict". It is individual and unique to each person. Control freaks, speed freaks, whatever - it affects each person differently and each high is different.
