Sorry, but it is safe enough, but like anything else, if you get used to how you feel on it (happy, elated, tired, cranky, etc) that's where you get into problems.

True, many of us can admit that we've used in the past but most of us had to give it up and get real jobs... It sucks, but it happens. It's a gamble. A big one. They don't make 'em like they used to... Bastards!

I've read yesterday that a drug used to treat narcolepsy could also block a cocaine addiction - the article also described the way cocaine operates on the brain:

"Cocaine is highly addictive: About 16 percent of people who try it become hooked, often rapidly. In 2003, the latest data, the government estimated that more than 1.5 million Americans were dependent on or abusing cocaine, and more reported recently experimenting with it.
Addictions in general rewire the brain, says Volkow, the NIDA director. Drugs cause a feel-good rush by increasing amounts of the brain chemical dopamine. The brain reacts by tamping down regular dopamine production, making users feel lousy between hits and setting up the cycle of addiction
At the same time, the dopamine surge also creates memory circuits that eventually establish so-called "cue-induced cravings": If an addict passes the crack house or sees friends he did drugs with, his brain literally sends a strong impulse to use again."

true true, I was just thinking more from the lines of getting addicted. But, yeah, I heard about people not being used to what it feels like, so they end up drinking too much water to try to come down and poison themselves.

I first used cocaine when I was 21 but did not become addicited until I was 28-I had periods of sobriety. One almost 3 years. I started just snortng then my nose got jacked up I couldn't snort anymore. A drug dealer taught me how to cook cocaine to make crack. I held the spoon in my mouth and used my hands to add water and baking soda, use a flame and cook crack. Then I just started buying it. It makes you do ridiculous things. I read that whores during the Civil War got 5 dollars-they are still out there doing it for the same or less.

I've seen way too many people who are addicts to ever want to touch any of it. Drugs screw up everything, your life, your family, your finances, your job, your kids, your body. I've never once looked at an addict and thought any part of their life was something that would be nice to have. Makes it damn easy to stay away from all of this crap.

You know they do it for less - most of them never see the money, just the rocks...

People have died from one hit of X for the following reasons:

1) Medical issues that were there prior... faulty heart valve, shitty kidneys, etc. Ticking time bombs.

2) the 1 in a million factor of people who are just deathly allergic to the stuff. They react incredibly badly and die as a result rather quickly. There have been a few reported cases of people just collapsing soon after taking it, not having done anything.

3) Idiots who take it, and then spend the whole night NOT drinking any water, dancing their brains out and overheating in unventilated areas. Their body temperatures rise to the point it damages their brains.

4) People who go the opposite route and overhydrate to the point of death. Not sure how that happens exactly, I mean really.. how much water could you drink without feeling sick.

That's about it. In most cases it's stupidity.
