^^ Thanks, but see, he was suffering from this worse than my family. Even though we went through hell, he never made it out of it.

It's so selfish and shortsighted to make out people who kill other people by driving under the influence as these evil monsters. They are not. They made a mistake. A stupid mistake, but a mistake nevertheless.

As I have said before, a drunk driver killed my grandmother and put my mother in a wheelchair for over six months. It happened right before my eyes, my 18 months old nephew had to witness it. I had to scrub my grandmother's blood of the sidewalk in front of our house. It was the most horrifying experience of my life. The boy was 18 and it broke my heart. I tried to comfort him, which was useless. He killed himself a year after the accident. I tried to talk him out of it, but he thought he deserved death.

Lindsay touches me in the same way. Does she make mistakes? Of course! But she is going through a very bad time. She has no guidance, no friends, no parenty who help her. Everyone has always been after her fame and money.

Self-righteousness is poisonous. People who pretend that they never made a mistake, never went through rough, confused times make no sense to me.
Very sad! What a stand up person you are, Chilly!!!!

I didn't know about your experience with that, CW, I am sorry that your family went through that.

well, then let's turn out the jails... everyone deserves a 3rd, 4th .... 100th turn, don't they. I'm sure everyone in jail has some lame-ass excuse for why they did what they did on more than one occasion....

It's okay, Sweetie and Sweetrebel, thank you. I really didn't want a pity party, I wanted to express my views on tolerance, forgiveness and compassion.

And I'm not even a Christian!

Seems like there's only sympathy for people who didn't do anything wrong. He who is without fault, y'all...

I made many dumbass mistakes when I was Lindsay's age and it scares me how people would have judged me if they had known. So harsh! Thank God there weren't any cameras in my life!

No I totally agree with you there. The girl I was talking about that only did 1 year, I was actually happy that she didn't get that much time. I was sad for the man that was killed and for his family, but I was sad for her and her family also, she made a very dumb mistake.

I was just pointing out that non celebs don't always do as much time as people seem to think, for the same or worse.

I just think if she had a lick of sense she'd have done what it took to get her life straightened out after the first offense. No, she lies and covers up and does the same shit again ... Had the same guy that killed your grandmother killed someone else right after, would you have still felt the same about him?

Wow....just wow. This thread is a real eye-opener about our society and why things just keep getting more out of control. Unfreakingbelievable.

Call out the firing squad, kill her on the spot, she was busted with coke and wrecked her own car, no one was injured but she still deserves to die for such horrific acts.

Oh, maybe she should just move to the UK, we all know they let you have NUMBEROUS drug charges and still get away with it. Look at Petey boy.

Thank God, there are no victims in Lindsay's case. Jail should be for the victims. To re-install their sense of justice, to let them know that the system is on their side.

I hope she learns her lesson now, otherwise I'll rest my case. Promise!

And I thought the sorry state our society is in had to do with greed, poverty, violence or wars. Now I know, it has to do with Lindsay Lohan and those who won't lock her up for not killing anyone!

A couple I know, two guys, go to the same NA/AA/CMA meetings I go to. Crystal Meth is really bad in the DC gay community and a lot of decent people get caught up in it for various reasons. Anyway, these two guys became really caught up in it and lost their successful event planning/catering business and became pretty big meth dealers. They got caught, and long story short, they could have gotten 10 years or more but they were given the chance to go to rehab while the case was pending, and the judge checked on their progress monthly. Three years later, they are still both clean and are getting off a year of house arrest and will be on probation for another five years I think. But they didn't do jail time (first offense for both).
I see guys in similar situations avoid jail time all the time as long as they stay clean; I have even seen some relapse and come right back and go before the judge and the judge will give one or two more chances.

I am not defending Loho here, because I could care less whether she is locked up for the rest of her life. I don't think its not only the rich and famous that get breaks - jails are so overpopulated in the states that judges often give drug offenders second and third chances if think they are making a sincere attempt to staff away from drugs.

I've never said I was upset. Where did I say that? I've never said she should be locked up for could have happened. All I'm pointing out is the stuff she's been doing for a while now like every other hard partying celeb. I'm making fun of her like I would parasite. If Lindsay makes a sincere effort to overcome her demons I fully support that. I'm all for people bettering themselves. Good golly miss molly Chill Chilly.

I've been through hard times. My mother practically raised me in a crack house while she whored herself out to whomever would give her a fix. I was abused by all her druggie men. I was barely clothed, starving and neglected. I got out of there as soon as I could. My mother stole my identity (credit card fraud) and ruined my credit to where I couldn't even rent an apartment. I gave up for a while and lived with whatever friend I had at the moment. I lived a hard partying life for a while with my tweeker friends until I woke up and realized I was turning into someone I've hated and despised. Now I can make fun of myself for dressing in aluminum foil and running around crunk outtta my mind. I'm no fucking angel and I blame myself for all my actions. I made the mistakes. I just believe that people should own up to what they've done and accept the fact they cannot change the past. All you can do is live to be better one day at a time.

I'm truly sorry for you loss and what you've been through. You're a very caring person to try and comfort someone who hurt the ones you love. Not everyone is like that and it takes special person to do what you did.

It's nice that you can feel compassion for a man who killed a member of your family, Chilly, but Lindsay needs a wake-up call BEFORE she kills someone. I don't think this coddling does her any favours. She needs some jail time or at least the threat of jail time to give her that wake-up call.

I get angry with her because she is in denial. I am a recovering alcoholic (many years sober) and I just am not going to give her sympathy. That wont help her. Yes, she has problems, but drinking and drugging is not solving them - it has become her biggest problem. She needs to realize that - her life depends on it. She is an addict and she needs to stop, even if she has lousy parents - in sobriety she will find beautiful new parents.
