It's an interesting concept, and I truly hope it works, but I do not think it's the best way. She needs to be COMPLETELY focused on recovery; nothing else. She may as well just go to AA meetings if she isn't going to stay for full in-treatment. And if she was on as many drugs as reported (even if just alcohol), it seems she would still be in the detox period, and you CANNOT leave then. This all seems weird. And Dina Lohan sucks. She needs to realize she made a mistake letting her daughter run wild and step up to the plate!

Poor Lindsay. With a mother like that, she never stood a chance.

I hope it works too. This may have been the only way Linds would have checked in.

Edited to add: OK, I was curious, so I googled Wonderland...they are a residential facility, so she must stay there, but look at this paragraph I found..

Wonderland realizes that life does not come to a stop when a client comes in for treatment. Making the commitment to receive help is an essential step. Since Wonderland is located in Los Angeles, the backbone of the entertainment industry, we recognize that many of our clients have careers in the performance arts. For countless years, it has been accepted that the performing arts go hand-in-hand with a bleak history of alcoholism and addiction. How many successful artists have been cut down in their prime by these chronic and fatal diseases? How many more have had their careers shortened and their reputations stained on account of a tabloid explosion in relation to alcoholism and addiction? Recognizing the necessity of performers fulfilling pre-existing commitments when they are in desperate need of treatment, Wonderland has developed a working solution to this all-too-familiar problem.

Our solution begins with the understanding that life and work do not stop on account of a performer needing treatment. If an actor must fulfill contractual obligations at a point when treatment is a necessity, we have developed a balance that will allow both objectives to be realized. Our first example is an actor who is working on a film and needs to be on set and needs immediate treatment. Wonderland will provide a Sober Companion or Sober Assistant to assist with this situation. Sober Companions and Sober Assistants will travel back and forth with the client to the set, allowing the client to keep their external life on track while finding the path of recovery. Sober Companions may prevent extensive damage to a career, a pocketbook or a reputation.

    Sober Companion? Sober Assistant? Seriously?

But, life and work and school do stop for a a period of time for regular people who need inpatient treatment. I can understand eventually getting to the point where you need to be integrated back into the community, but this has only been a couple days, hasn't it?

There is another article at The Superficial showing MORE pictures of her out and about, one including her going to her hotel. If she needed clothes, etc., someone would have gotten them for her and brought them to the center. Where are her "sober friends/keepers"? I truly think she is not in rehab. Leaving for AA meetings makes NO FUCKING sense...those programs are A PART of rehab. It's all a farse. If she is not ready to get better, she won't. Even when you desperately want to, it is VERY hard to commit. In my eyes, she isn't in rehab.

I checked in for out-patient treatment at 18 in Malibu...within a day and a half I left and never came back. Day treatment is not a good idea. I got clean without the treatment, but with a TON of support (and holed up away from the clubs/after parties (ie DRUGS) for good, but to this day, I know I have an addictive personality.

^I think it's all BS too. All her PR people says she is in rehab but she is not really putting effort into all the BS her PR are feeding the media. You don't go into rehab to please people or the media, you go because you know you have a problem that you can't overcome yourself.
She has cried wolf too many times for people to give a s--t at this point.

I agree, you have a very good point but she's currently filming in L.A. ... probably under contract and they need to keep the production going so the whole financial thing doesn't tank.

    Yeah really!

The skeptic in me is wondering if this is really real. It seems like if she was really committed to starting over and getting sober and getting the photographers off her back, she'd go to a treatment place somewhere in Kansas or something. And not release the location.

This is a good point too. When you go into treatment, these meetings are usually in-house and on the premises. And if they aren't then EVERYONE at the facility takes a van to an off-site meeting, that promptly brings them right back to rehab after the meeting.

Allowing her to leave and go to an AA meeting.... its just way sketch.

On second thought, I am going to agree with you completely ByRDi, yoyoma and calimoonchild. The whole thing is B.S. I just watched 28 Days again, with Sandra Bullock (it was on Oxygen a couple days ago). Lindsay Lohan would be in serious shaky withdrawal right now, if not downright sick, with all her purported health problems. Instead, she's going about her business in a kind of curtailed way.

I don't give a crap what Dina Lohan says, she's not handling it properly (neither she nor her daughter).

That's exactly what it is, an addictive personality. Mix that with plenty of money to spare, Paris Hilton as a friend and a disfunctunal family and you got yourself a major problem that's going to take more than an AA meeting to cure.
